Do Not Knock Registry

Much like the Do Not Call Registry

Angel
Many of us know about the Do Not Call Registry but not too many know about the Do Not Knock Registry. There is no need to go hunting, read on.

The Do-Not-Call Registry stops sales people from calling or they receive a $5000 fine. The reason hardly anyone has heard it for knocking is because Parma Ohio is the first US City to propose a Do Not Nock Registry. Better late then never and I'm proud to say I'm an Ohioan born and raised.

There is nothing more annoying then sales calls during dinner time. The Do Not Call Registry has taken care of this if you register. The Do Not Call Registry can be found online, and is free for all to use, even for your cell phone. You can register here: https://www.donotcall.gov/ . Just keep in mind though, simply because you have listed with the Do Not Call Registry doesn't mean they won't come a knocking at your door, unless of course you live in Parma Ohio.

Much like the Do-Not-Call Registry there is a fine for knocking on a door that contains the Do Not Knock sticker in their window or door. The solicitors could receive a $1000 fine and up to six months in jail. If you live in Parma be sure that you can register here: http://www.cityofparma-oh.gov/ It is completely free and well worth it to put a stop to the already overloaded spam process.

North Olmsted of Ohio, followed suit on Monday April 14th with the Do Not Knock law. So far well over 200 households have signed up to be included in this law. In North Olmsted violators will be fined $500 a day and get up to 6 months in jail. So far well over 20 companies have already been cited, prosecuted and fined. This law does not affect charities, or companies you have requested to visit your house. If you wish to opt out of those you should call those companies directly and even then you may not be removed.

This can be a huge blessing to anyone who may be working from home, or work nights, and don't wish to be woken up by such annoyances. Rest assured once this becomes a law or an option in my city I will be signing up. It's just a shame that it doesn't cover charities that come a knocking, but it will at least take care of all those sales people who are offering you things you can do yourself for cheaper.

Even though some have been let down by registry etc. ...for those fighting child abuse : Every little bit helps. Grab on to anything available and the form links to further assist. Fight the enemy with its own strength.

This is an excellent idea!! I have never heard of it, but I certainly wish they had a similar law here in California!
