The first thing you need to do is kind of obvious. Once you pinpoint your weaknesses, you need to work at eliminating them.
You cannot always discover your flaws on your own. It is sometimes necessary to ask others for their insight on what you are doing wrong.
Are you a slow typist? This can be a problem, especially if your job requires you to do a lot of typing. One thing you can do to improve is become familiar with your keyboard. Another is to work on using the right fingers to hit each key.
Are your computer skills not too strong? If so, it is essential to strengthen them. Some firms need you to do more than use the Internet or do basic stuff some as printing out documents. It is prudent to learn the various functions of Word and other Microsoft Office applications.
Do you have trouble being on time? If so, you need to manage your time better and always make sure you leave out early enough to get to work on time, no matter how bad traffic is.
Are your presentation skills poor? If so, you need to learn how to give strong presentations and then practice.
Are you timid? It is okay to be a little shy but it is vital to not be too shy to ask for help on the job or communicate some of your concerns with your boss.
Are you only good at working alone? There might be points when you need to work on projects in a group. You must get used to reaching an agreement with others, doing your fair share of the work and fulfilling the obligations you have to your team.
Do you lack confidence in yourself? You can help solve this problem by telling yourself you can master anything you set your mind to.
Do you have trouble keeping the clothes you wear to work clean while eating breakfast or lunch? You can take care of this by eating non-messy food or wearing an apron while eating messy food.
Is talking fluently not one of your strong suits? You can improve through practice and focusing on clearly enunciating each word you speak.
Are you too impatient? It is important to not become overly excited, rush through your work, become upset easily or get frustrated each time you do not quickly see good results.
Is taking rejection something you are not good at? This is something you must correct, especially if you ever need to take a position that involves sales or making a lot of telephone calls.
Do you have a lack of energy and an inability to remain standing for a long period of time? You can take care of this by exercising regularly and eating nutritious foods that provide energy.
Do you not take criticism well? It is often necessary to welcome and accept it in order to get better.
Do you have trouble staying motivated? You should try to derive stimulation and pleasure from each task.
Are you too dependent on others in regard to getting started on tasks and making decisions? It helps to be a self-starter who can "hit the ground running" once you get a little bit of direction the first time.
Use these tips to prevent your weaknesses from damaging your career!
