Do Pagans Believe in Jesus and Celebrate Christmas?

Wendy Cheuvront
In my own experiences, I have found that many Pagans do believe in Jesus, though our beliefs vary and are not the same as the beliefs of popular Christian religions.

Pagans don't usually adhere to the idea that Jesus was the son of God. Some believe that he was a great prophet and may even consider him to be divine in a way.
Most who believe in him find great value in his teachings. It's also true that many Pagans do celebrate Christmas, as well as Yule or Winter Solstice, etc.

As a Pagan and eclectic witch, I believe in Jesus to be divine, yet really no more divine than the rest of us. I believe he came in a form that was very spiritually evolved. I believe that Jesus held some of the most true secrets of the universe, including the fact that none of us are really separate. I believe he was able to love everyone as he was able to love himself, for that very reason.

Jesus had much to teach the world, that they may not have been ready to listen to or understand. He was a great teacher and a value to many even 2,000 years after his death.

I can't say that I believe that he died for our sins, as I don't believe in sin. I believe we have pre-determined, before birth, what all we want to experience and learn in this lifetime. I don't believe in Satan or Hell, or that anything "bad" happens to any one of us after we pass on. I believe all of life is a learning experience to help us evolve spiritually.

Many Pagans believe that the circumstances involving the birth and death of Jesus is in part myth, a lot of it borrowed from previous Pagan beliefs of other deities. Yes, there are other stories of Pagan Goddesses having virgin births, and many stories of Gods being sacrificed for the good of mankind. It was quite common, in ancient times, for Pagans to believe that some of their Gods lived amongst us, in the likeness of man.

Whatever the circumstances of Jesus' birth or death, I think that most who believe in him will agree that his birth and his teachings to humanity are definitely worth celebrating.

I've also found that many Pagans aren't offended by talk about Jesus, even if they don't believe in him, but only take offence when trying to be "converted" to another religion

Interesting, although I disagree with you on many levels. As I believe in a literal Heaven and a literal Hell, and I do believe that Jesus was born of a virgin, died on a cross, and rose again the third day, that all who believe may be saved.
I do believe that Satan is alive and walks today decieving as many as he can because he knows his time is short, he is not yet in hell contrary to what some may think, he is walking to and fro seeking all whom he may devour, also when he is cast onto Hell, he is not going to be setting up rule there as some believe, he is going to be tormented just as every soul and fallen angel that followed after him will be. And that torment will never end.
Hell is real, and Heaven is real, and all of us are on are way to one or the other, the choice is ours, and we don't get a second chance after we die.
All people are either saved or lost, you can't be both, and it is an individual choice that is made, we either accept the ransom that was paid for us, o

Jesus also does not want us to look at His Crucifixion as only a past event. When He appeared to the apostles after His Resurrection and in His glorified risen Body He showed them His wounds from His Crucifixion. (Luke 24:39-40 & John 20:20) Why would Jesus keep those wounds from His Crucifixion if He didn't want us to remember His Crucifixion and everything He gives to us through His Cross such as His passionate and unconditional endless love and infinite mercy

GodChild... I'm sorry you feel the way you do. You sound quite uneducated and close minded.
From the definition of yourself that you just gave, you certainly ARE a Christian. A Christian defined as those who believe Christ to be "the son of God" and that he died for our "sins".
And saying "am not a PAGAN I believe in God" shows that you really don't know a lot about Paganism either. As there are many Gods/Goddesses in Paganism, among other beliefs, like energy, universal consciousness, etc.

Obviously you also don't know much about childbirth. Without menstrual cycles, no female (human or beast) would be able to conceive and carry a child. And a menstrual period consists mostly of tissue, not actual blood.

You seem to carry a lot of hate inside you....casting others out if they do not think in the same way you do.
I don't hold hate for any person based on their beliefs or actions.

EVIL DERIVES FROM EVIL WHICH IS FROM HELL. THE DEVIL WHICH WAS A SAINT WANTED TO BE HIGHER THAN GOD IF NOT TAKE HIS PLACE. HE HAD TO BE CAST DOWN INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE WHICH IS HELL along with his followers, in which many today still exist and walk this earth for many weak minds and lost souls to capture and mentally confused or corrupt.

Im not a chrisitian and certainly am not a PAGAN I believe in God and most certainly believe Jesus was sent here as his son to not only preach to man but to also die for us, shed blood for those who are born into sin and want to be forgiven by the Almighty for our wrong doings. Since the day Eve allowed sin into God's world there had to be a way we could go on to be forgiven. Which is why I also believe thats why all Women have mentrul cycles. We have to shed blood for the mistake Eve made. I practice life through God, I make mistakes but I know if I go to God ill be forgiven. I cannot believe you dont believe that when a man whom sins purposely th

Another great article. I believe that Jesus was a real person who existed, yet I don't believe in the Bible-based version of God and consider Christianity to be a man-made religion. I also fail to believe that Mary was a virgin, but agree that Jesus was a very spiritual and good, decent person. He made the most contributions to our wolrd than any other, and I am still sadden when i think of the horrible death he suffered. I regret that he did so for our "sins" when sin is merely a poor choice by someone who knows better.
