Gossip can also be used to boost someone's reputation as a practice known as promoting by mouth. However, since negative news about someone seems to sell more, it can turn on anyone of us. Gossip is a malicious habit usually practiced by women of talking about people. These gossipers are superficially friendly to people to the point of hugs and kisses only to draw one out. One way to explain this is to recall a certain feeling you had when a person entered a room. You should ask yourself these questions. Have you ever decided that you didn't like a person you did not know?
Did you ever know why you felt that way? Did you make an effort to get to know the person in order to find out? Did you rely on someone else's opinion or thoughts about the person? The purpose of these questions is to determine how gossip starts. Sometimes people may have a hard time relating to someone who is different than themselves. Moreover, there is a personality clash where someone appears to be what they are not. There is also a possibility that the person's genetic facial features may make them look a certain way. For example, there are people in the world who looks exactly regal or like a high class snob. Perhaps it could be found in countenance or facial features, but not in their hearts.
Other times, the person could have a conceit in their facial expression that clearly states the fact. Both individuals are judged the same due to people's feelings. The person who looks like a snob may have a reserved character learned by upbringing. Someone will first view the person as thinking he/she is above everyone else. The person who is a snob, is known to be one. People who may have been snubbed or known someone to be insulted by snobs will hate them all. The problem is that the person gets carried away with their feelings against someone. It never matters what is fact or fiction. Here say is the most popular news in society when people depend on one person's opinion.
That opinion could be out of spite from jealousy and shame of ones own life. Yet, instead of getting the real facts people settle. People could settle due to the fact that it is easier to obtain information that way. The point is that one can be wrong nine times out of ten. News travels fast from one to friends to others. Before one knows it, those lies can end up in all the wrong places. First one may mention a name or point someone out to someone else. When others recognize the person as the subject anything can happen. For example, a single mother who is angry at the world for her own mistakes discovers her neighbor. Her neighbor just graduated from college ,and has her multicultural friends over.
The single mother can tell people that she believes she is gay since her friends are mostly girls. Another example is an unmarried sister in law heard nice compliments of her brothers wife. Her brother's wife works in the field of education in a clean job, but she cleans adults in the hospital. Behind closed doors she says things to her children against her brothers wife. The children start looking at their aunt mean each time they visit. There can also be a whole neighborhood of working middle class people who has a rich neighbor who never has to work. They can tell each other that they must be selling drugs to pay their bills. A drug dealer can have friends who are proud enough to bang on your wall from their apartment.
When you call the cops to report the noise, the police tells them to stop. They can retaliate if they know people in high places who blame you for the loss of their friends business. No one will ever take the time for facts. However, it is a crime to blacken the character of someone. Libel is when the offense is written in a durable fashion. Defamation is when someone communicates an untruth about a person that could hurt their reputation, getting jobs or promotions, business, product, organization, etc. Slander is derogatory speech about someone in spoken word, sign language, and gestures to other people against you.
All are crimes by our laws in the United States of America. Gossip is made to slander people publicly to demean their character, and hold them back from success others may not reach. In addition, this gossip can cost people their lives or even take lives. The only cure for gossip is for karma to come back on the main speaker, and the spreaders. So shall karma do unto them what they have done to innocent victims. Those who lie about innocent people for spite should have the ugly truth about themselves spread even further along by the people they've lied to. May great speed be with karma!
