Do Relationships Have to Be "Perfect?"

Ms. Evocative
Imagine finding that special someone, and from the time you have met this person, everything has been going great. You two don't fight, have just about everything in common, and the sex is amazing. In other words, this relationship is like a perfect Michelangelo sculpture! Do perfect relationships necessarily mean happy relationships?

Occasionally while walking down the street or in a restaurant you will see that one couple who likes to let all their dirty laundry out in the open. You seem them fighting and screaming at each other and surely you must be thinking: "I am so glad we are not like that" or something along the lines of "That's so embarrassing". At other times, you may hear stories from your friends about their "flawed" relationships. We tend to look at these couples and sigh, but really these are the same couples who under all the imperfection, are still just as happy, if not more as those who have nothing going wrong in their relationships.

Couples who fight, disagree, and have problems are like flaws on our bodies. A big nose, bushy eyebrows, or even scars give us what is called character. These flaws tell a story and to some, make us more appealing. If you're in an ideal perfect relationship, then what is there to strive for? A successful relationship is one that continues to grow stronger and stronger, and one where two people are able to learn from each other, whether it is positive or negative.

Of course a couple that fights too much is not healthy. Even as wonderful as a relationship might look, it's not a bad thing to be that stereotypical couple that fights in a street corner. After all, a great fight is a good excuse to be followed up by hot make up sex!
