Do Your Shopping at the Good Will Store in Pompano, Florida

As Much as I Hate to Reveal This Gold Mine the Holidays Are Coming and I'm Feeling Generous

bhI'm a careful shopper. I like bargains. I love bargains. My daughter has grown up under my tutelage and we love to bargain shop together. I do crafts, so I hit garage sales and the Good will. and we have started a garage sale gifting premise for Christmas. Everyone has way mor than they need to along with donating we still buy gifts for one another but we do it on the cheap. I found a terrific, clean Good Will only 10 minutes from my home and maybe 15 from hers and we meet there on Wednedays. Wednesday is half price day for Senior citizens. That would be me.

Aside from this great policy the prices are excellent. They also offer a color of the week tag that will be half price when you check out. So, Wednesday isn't the only primo day to shop. This particular store is very well organized. Clothing is seperated into Mens , Womens, Childrens, Infants and then hung in groupings of shorts, tops, dresses, nightwear, shoes, t shirts, blouses, pants, sweaters, purses and accessories. They also have jewerly and used and unused glasses. To make it even simpler the clothing is sorted by color. So, if you need an orange top you can go straight to the orange top area. It couldn't be easier. All items are tagged. I believe the tag colors also give the salepeople a clue as to what has been there too long and they will pull a color regularly. One little problem , if they actually miss tagging something you cannot buy it.

You still have to check your items for stains and spots or tears. For the most part everything is in reasonably good condition but there are no returns so it is important to check each item in good light. We take our items up front where the store windows are so we can check for flaws in good light. Since the tags are stapled on it's also important to make sure the staple hasn't left a hole in the garment.

There is a whole area of books hard and soft cover at .50 to $1.00. This is a great place to find a new read. Not far from this area is the China, bric a brac, housewares area and the stroller, suitcase, baskets larger home goods area. I found a fantastic, expensive dog carrier here for a few dollars and just missed a dog stroller. They have a toy area that the kids love to shop in with great toys, books and puzzles. Stuffed animals are in bins above the clothing. I have seen Victoria's Secret Bears and Ralph Lauren bears.

Many times they will have a large area of brand new cosmetics or hair products, again at very little cost.

In the furniture area I bought a sleeper sofa that was $200. It was an unused floor sample. They sell new mattresses, dressers, desks, lamps, tv's, tables and the like mostly used but for the most part very attractive and definately in good condition. The furniture and bric a brac are never half price but are usually so well priced it isn't an issue.

A friend of mind haunts this store looking for vintage Hawaiian shirts.

When my grand daughters came to visit I picked up some great little summer items for them to wear so they wouldn't have to pack a pile of things. Three girls can create a lot of luggage. When they left it all got donated back except for a few pieces they fell in love with.

My Mom was a 1X /2X and tended to stain up her clothing. She was paralyzed on one side so when she ate things could get messy. I could always pick her up great tops here and no one cared if she got them stained.Out they'd go and she'd get more. It made her very happy to have a constant flow of new tops.

This store happens to have very nice personnel, they will actually help you find something if you have a specific item in mind. They know their stock. The store is clean and smells nice, no musty, old smell that you find in some resale stores.Resale stores can be off putting or inviting.

Some Good WIll stores price their clothing quite high. Being super shoppers my daughter and I know we can get new clothing at the price of some of these stores mark their merchandise. So being a savvy shopper helps, knowing your brands helps. We have found Abercrombie, Ralph Lauren, 7 for All Mankind, Lilly, Timberland, Limoge, Chico's, Michael Simon, Burberry and more. If you need Girl Scout, Brownie, Boy Scout, Cubs or even coaches shirts you can find them here. Scrubs? Tons of them.

My daughter outifts her boys at Good Will, they're growing fast and are hard on their clothing so she saves money and the kids look great. They are Gap boys and she hasn't blown her budget keeping them looking good. Now,both are required to wear certain colors for school so again its the Good Will that takes care of this. She also gets their soccer cleats and baseball pants here. When theycome with us they are allowed to pick out a toy or book.

So don't be snooty, check out your local Good Will. You might find out it's pretty impressive.
