When you start to do one task that you thought would be easy, does it turn into one problem after another problem after another problem and things just turn sour? Has this happened to you? If so, you have experienced stress.
By putting stress on your body, you may become irritated, frustrated and angry but it can also affect your health.
When things get really stressed, what 5 activities can you do to bring your emotions back to a calm, relaxed state?
1. Meditate - If you can, find a quiet, relaxing place. If not that is OK. Close your eyes. Focus on your breathing. Allow your mind to be clear of any thoughts. Slowly breath in and out. Spend about 10 minute doing this. You will be refreshed and have a new outlook!
2. Listen to relaxing music - Allow yourself to really hear the music and soak up the rhythm. By doing this, you are shifting your attention away from the stress and allowing yourself to come to a more relaxed state.
3. Get out into the great outdoors - There is something about being in fresh air and the warmth of the sun that will shift your focus. When you get outdoors, close your eyes and take a few breaths. Allow yourself to calm down and clear your mind.
4. Exercise - This will release chemicals in your body that will give you good feelings and put you in a state of happiness.
5. Laugh - who does not like to laugh? This is an important activity and should be included in your daily routine. If there is no one funny around you, jump on the computer and check out a YouTube video. I am sure you can find one that will have you rolling on the floor!
