Do Vampires Really Exist?

Douglas Haynes
A Vampire is a creature who feeds on blood of alive beings to stay active. Probably the base of most people's ideas about vampires is from the popular book "Dracula" by Bram Stoker (and the films based on him, like Nosferatu and many versions of Dracula). Some students of vampires have suggested these legends are partially related to the cases of real pathologies in society.

Along with the werewolf, Vampires are perhaps the most famous supernatural creatures of popular culture. The word "vampire" comes from the Slavic language - It simultaneously means "to be flying", "to drink or to absorb" and "bat". During the expansion of Romanticism in Europe, the vampire became a common name and was associated with legends of castles and the elegant halls. Other names are vurdalak (Russian modern), vrolok (Slovakian), strigoï or strigoiul (Rumanian modern), bukolako or vukodlak (Serbian), upiro (Polish), nosferatu (of Greek nosophoro (νοσοφορος), and vampyrus (Latin).

Although the description of these creatures varies a little between authors, vampires have several characteristics in common; They were human mortals once, but now they are in a state which they aren't alive nor dead. Usually they are thin and dark, with long nails and dim skin. According to some authors, vampires are not reflected in mirrors, as if they were not real. They need fresh blood to live. Usually they have phobia to the crucifixion and blessed water.

They can infect others when biting them, and turning them into vampires as well. Some, like Dracula, need to sleep underground. They have a supernatural force. They can become creatures like wolves, rats or bats when one feels in danger. The majority can be destroyed by the light of the sun or being beheaded. A stake through the heart kills a vampire. True Nosferatus can support the light of the sun, although they hate it. They are possible to be moved away with garlic because they hate the scent.

The vampire is a physically powerful being, as hard as twenty men, of an extraordinary strength and extreme "charm." Due to their consumption of blood, they eternally remains young. Vampires are able to transform into a dust cloud or steam, climbs up the walls like an insect and, at least of a limited way, is able to control the surrounding weather elements. In Dracula, one also affirms that vampires can only enter a building if they have been undeniably invited - This is a very strict rule of the vampire code.

Do you know anyone who fits the traits of a Vampire?

i dont think because earth is a place where varied animals live. And if any creatures like vampires, werewolves or spirits are said 2 b alive, the practical meaning is their legends, stories and myths are alive. just like minotaurs or cantors vampires and werewolves are fictional. one more thing its a belief that people who die due to snakebite become immortal, but its not so. eg. cleopetra- she died due to snakebite, but she died in the age of 39. however her stories, legends have survived for 2000 yrs! SAME IS THE CASE WITH VAMPIRES.

I would like to believe that they exist. Little mystery makes life interesting. I have not had the opportunity to spice my life in such a way.
