Do it Yourself Body Detoxification

With the processed, genetically modified foods we find ourselves chowing down on in our stress addled, on the go lives, coupled with sedentary jobs, it is easy for our bodies to turn into toxic waste dumps. Luckily, you don't have to go far to start your own detoxification program. The following spices and foods, along with some occasional physical activity that breaks a sweat, can squeeze toxic waste out of you and make you feel "human" again.

Spices

Oregano, sage, and thyme are very strong antioxidants and can be found in many household spice drawers. Adding them to your favorite beverage, such as a healthy morning green tea or nighttime chamomile, can provide you with an arsenal of free radicals to ward off certain cancers. Also, any time you can add red chili peppers or organic mustard to a meal you can help flush them out of your system.

If you eat out at restaurants, don't regard that parsley as a decoration. Consider it like taking your medicine and just eat it. Also, for salads, going to a health food store and picking up bear or juniper berries are a good way to help your body eliminate toxic waste. If you can forgo coffee and switch to tea, birch tea is a great way to turn your urinary track into a detox expulsion tube. Also, one of my personal favorites, chamomile is another great antioxidant tea that you should drink at night, since it tends to have a wonderful calming effect.

When it comes to fruits and vegetables, think of anything that has an edible skin, such as apples, pears, and grapes, These are very rich in antioxidants that can slow down the process and help detoxify you.

Also, take an extra helping of any berry pie you find served at the holidays, especially blueberry since it is not only good for warding off mental aging but it helps flush out dangerous metallic substances that people tend to carry around a lot these days. They also help bolster the immune system.

Garden fruits and vegetables

Vegetables such as soybeans and peas can give a vegetarian plenty of protein, as well as help reduce harmful cholesterol levels. Also, adding watercress vegetables or spinach to your sand which instead of plane lettuce can add detoxification to your lunch break.

Super foods

If you're looking for some heavy artillery shells to bombard those toxins swelling in your body, than without a doubt the best super food is Africa's Acai Berry, which can be found at any store shelf in juice or frozen puree form. I make sure to drink a bottle of blueberry flavor on a daily basis. I would definitely recommend buying your Acai berry juice from a privately owned organic food store, as you may run into a watered down, sugary version at some of the corporate grocery chains as Acai who are capitalizing on the Acai Berry boom.

Not only does Acai berry break up leukemia cells it can help stabilize insulin levels and the weight loss is incredible. I've already lost 15 pounds in a month since I've been drinking Acai berry juice on a regular basis. Keep it in moderation, however. The weight loss, if too rapid, can be dangerous in itself and keep in mind that Acai berry is very strong, with over 70% more antioxidants than blueberries.

As you get on your detox program, remember that it's not good to become a health food Nazi, either. Good food, and a little eating drinking and merriment is good for the soul. So don't think that any food is forbidden, just make sure that your usual diet is well balanced with these antioxidants mixed in. Try and have fun with it, if you can. For me, organic foods and detoxification has become like a hobby and you won't believe how good you feel when you're body is pure.
