The key to doing a pedicure yourself is the right equipment, so yes, there is an initial purchase, but it shouldn't cost you anymore than fifteen dollars and it should last through several applications!
I recommend using a Peppermint Foot Care Kit.
Peppermint oil has great analgesic and anesthetic effects which are great for relieving foot pain, as well as aching feet, rheumatism, neuralgia and muscular pains. It additionally has good stimulant action which is most useful as it assists and boosts blood circulation.
While reducing redness of the skin and reducing dilated capillaries, it is also great for relaxing your body and your stressed out feet really need it!
Step # 1
Soak Your feet in water for about 15 minutes. The water should be as hot as you can stand it, as this will help relax the muscles in your feet and soften the skin.
Step # 2
Gently scrub the bottom of your feet with a pumice stone. This will help remove any dead skin or calluses, pay special attention to your heels and the pads of your feet.
Step # 3
Cut and file your toenails in a square shape. Filing your nails to a square shape helps stop toenails from growing into the surrounding skin.
Step # 4
Rub a vitamin E lotion all over your feet, make sure to get in between the toes. By using a vitamin E lotion, you are helping to keep your feet soft and healthy, it will also help prevent new calluses.
Step # 5
Paint Your Toenails with a clear polish first, let dry. Then paint with your favorite color, make sure to only use three strokes on each nail, this will ensure there are no bumps or lines in your polish, let dry and then apply a second coat. After your colored polish dries, apply a second coat of clear.
This whole process should take you less than an hour and will have saved you at least ten bucks! Plus you'll have the added benefit of sitting back and relaxing when you are done, instead of jumping in your car and driving on. Doing your own pedicures is a great way to cut costs, in this ever expensive world we live in! Good Luck!
