Do it Yourself Wedding Decorations
Saving Money on Wedding Decorations is Fun and Simple with These Tips!
One inexpensive wedding favor is Victorian love poem scrolls. By setting a beautiful ribbon wrapped scroll on the plate of each guest, they will have the opportunity to feel favored and share in the joy of love. Weather each guest has a different love poem, verse, or saying, or if all guests have a similar reading, they will be able to leave feeling a little inspired. Wedding guest scrolls also provide the guests with something to talk about, almost like reading the inscriptions of fortune cookies at a Chinese restaurant. Instead of guests clanging their glasses for the couple to kiss, guests may take turns standing and reading their inspirational message from their scroll.
Poems may be printed on parchment or decorative paper. Brides should look at scrap booking stores and craft stores for sales on these products and hunt for love poems online. Whether they are using traditional or classic poems, it should be something meaningful. It may also be a good idea to have about ten different poems or scripture passages and print off several copies of each one. It is just important to make sure that each table has a variety so that when guests share they will not be repeating the same thing over and over again.
It is best to print the poems on paper that is 5.5" wide by 8.5" long. At the bottom of the printed poem, the couple may write a brief thank you to show their appreciation of each guest. The bottom of the note may also include the names of the couple and the wedding date.
The paper is then rolled into a scroll and tied with a delicate ribbon. Ribbon may be doubled to match the wedding colors and tied in a n elegant bow. The scrolls may also be placed in stemware glasses at each table.
Another fun wedding decoration that is easy to make are Hershey's kisses roses. Using Hershey's hugs or kisses, pink or and red foils, confectioners' glue, artificial leaves, florist wire and clear cellophane are all that is needed to make beautiful table decorations for each guest.
The first step is to glue two kisses together, with the wide ends facing each other. Next, insert the florist wire into one pointed end of the double chocolate. Then, wrap 4-inch square of clear cellophane around double chocolate, twisting it tightly. Starting at the bottom of the flower, tightly wrap florist tape around the edges of the cellophane. Adding one or two artificial leaves if desired, continue wrapping floral tape until the end of the wire. Tie two or more candy roses together with a pink, red, white, or any colored ribbon and set it for each guest.
It may also be possible to attach a small note to each bouquet for guests which include the bridal couples name and date of the wedding.
Another do-it-yourself decoration includes the placement of decorative scrapbook paper, cut out in distinctive wedding shapes (bells, hearts, wine glasses) set on each table. Each table would also have decorative pens for guests to use. Along with the paper and pens, include little instruction notes for guests to write advice on marriage or any other notes that they would like to leave for the married couple. This is a great way to get started on the wedding book, as well as get advice from experienced couples and beloved guests.
There are also ways to decorate using inexpensive ribbon and make even the simplest table settings look amazing.
Tea light candles are also quite inexpensive and a candlelit dinner is a beautiful end to a marriage ceremony.
Like any other way to spend money, it is important for couples to utilize their resources. Checking in with families and friends who have had recent weddings is always a good idea. You may be amazed at the amount of candle holders and wedding decorations you can come up with before hitting up the stores.
