Dockers enjoys a prime location on the Pistakee Lake, in downtown Fox Lake. The restaurant can be reached by car or by boat. There are piers on the lakefront side, so boaters can dock their boat during the boating season. The restaurant has a large parking lot for people who arrive by automobile.
There is a large wooden deck on the lakefront side, so diners and drinkers can enjoy the fabulous lake view on Pistakee Lake. The sunsets from the deck can be fabulous, as patrons can watch the ever changing colors in the sky as the sun goes down over the lake. The lakefront location helps to make Dockers a popular spot to relax and unwind.
During the cold weather months, patrons can enjoy the view from the inside of the bar/restaurant. The setting at Dockers is casual. The L shaped dining room is separated from the bar area. The building is showing some signs of wear from age, but the focal point of the lake grabs the attention..
The deck is the preferred spot to enjoy the show by mother-nature, but is only open during the summer. When the deck is open, diners sit a wooden tables, protected by umbrellas, when necessary. Ducks and seagulls play around the shore and flutter to shore when patrons toss out pieces of bread., adding to the lakefront atmosphere.
The menu is typical restaurant fare, featuring meals, sandwiches and some Mexican specialties. Prices range from $10 to 12 for most dinners. Sandwiches and hamburgers run from $8 to $10. The restaurant specials include all-you-can-eat Fish Fry on Friday and Prime Rib on Saturday and Sunday. Dinners include soup and salad bar. On Sundays they offer a buffet brunch, with breakfast and lunch items available.
The Friday Fish Fry, which includes the salad bar, is a good value. Next to the salad bar are two pots of soup, with stacks of soup bowls, so customers can help themselves to the soup of their choice. The salad bar includes a bowl of lettuce and a choice of other vegetables and salads. TheRish Fry fish is an all-you-can-eat meal, so patrons can fill up on fried fish. A bread basket with fresh which bread comes along with the meal.
We tried the Prime Rib special one weekend. The Prime Rib comes in a huge portion, really big enough to share, so we asked the waitress if we could split the meal and which she graciously agreed.. The Prime Rib was thick and juicy, and served medium, as ordered.
