DIY Doctor Who Costume

If you're into science fiction, there's no better way to celebrate Halloween than dressing up in a Doctor Who costume. The great thing about wearing a Doctor Who costume is that you have eleven different choices. You can take the David Tennant route or opt for the Tom Baker afro. Check out the following ideas for making a killer Doctor Who costume.

First Doctor Who

Personally, I think that Doctor Who numero uno was rather dreary. However, if you want to go for the vintage look you should dress up in the original Doctor Who costume. The first Doctor Who was portrayed by Willam Hartnell. In most episodes, Hartnell wore a black jacket with plaid pants and carried a walking stick.

Fourth Doctor Who

The fourth Doctor Who was played by Tom Baker, who was best known for his wild crop of curls. Tom Baker wore a long burgundy overcoat and a fedora. This is probably my favorite Doctor Who costume as it provides a great excuse to wear a fedora and a curly wig. Who (pun intended) can argue with that?

Sixth Doctor Who

Poor Colin Baker got stuck wearing the most ridiculous Doctor Who costume of all time. Like Tom Baker, Colin had curly hair, but it came off looking like a clown wig. His crazy outfit included a red plaid coat with orange cuffs, a white shirt with question marks and a polka-dotted tie. This get-up may be difficult to find, but if you are persistent enough in scouring the consignment shops, you just might be able to make it work.

Ninth Doctor Who

The ninth doctor's costume is by far the easiest to replicate. It is also the least memorable. Christopher Eccleston only played the good Doctor for one season, and he wore all black. If you're feeling lazy, this Doctor Who costume is a great choice.

Tenth Doctor Who

David Tennant is by far my favorite doctor and I am still disappointed that his time on the show is over. During his tenure, David Tennant wore a slightly rumpled trenchcoat, a blue pinstriped suit and a pair of red Converse sneakers. Sometimes he'd also wear a pair of red and blue 3D glasses. When you put on this Doctor Who costume, make sure that the top button of your shirt is undone and that your tie is loose.

Eleventh Doctor Who

Even though I'd rather have David Tennant return, I can't say I'm all that disappointed with Matt Smith. To pull off this outfit, you'll need a brown tweed jacket, a pair of suspenders, and most important of all, a bow tie.

Personally I'm opting for number 11 with the Fez. Or maybe the stetson. Nah, Fezzes are cool
