It was like last week. I watched "Frankenstein", the later version with Robert DeNiro as the poor stitched together human who was abused and mistreated by everybody but still had the capacity to think and feel. When the Monster went crazy it tore up everything and everybody in its path.
The Frankenstein Monster was created by Victor Frankenstein in his attempt to play God and to do good. Victor Frankenstein's goals were noble: create everlasting life and never have loved ones get sick or die. He became obsessed, created the Frankenstein Monster and then over the course of years lost it all -- including his own life.
Barack Obama is headed the same direction. I'm thinking, however, his intentions are much less noble than Victor Frankenstein's, in that he is not so much in favor of making sure people are cured of what ails them, but are brought into the government fold of control.
I am thinking that President Obama may want to read Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, or at least see the movie. Maybe he will then understand that some things cannot be controlled, and that they are better left to a Higher Force.
In the case of health care -- or health care insurance reform-- as he newly christened his Monster last night, this beast will get away from him, as did Robert DeNiro as the Frankenstein Monster, and it will learn and adapt and take on a frightful life of its own.
The Obama Monster will not be accepted in the real wold, either, as human nature wants to be able to seek out its own cures and work with its own healers, rather than have a former Post Office employee deciding what new part will be sewn in or not.
I watched "Frankenstein" last week, and it was frightening and it was sad. All good intentions went to evil, and the Monster, who wanted to do the right thing and to be accepted, turned on its creator and all those around it. In the movie the DeNiro Monster ripped out the heart of his potential wife, out of rage and frustration, because the Monster could never be just human.
The United States has become a blue state and a red state nation. We are soon to become a blue pill and a red pill people, where those who swallow the blue pill believe that something can be had for nothing, while those who take the red pill know that not all medicine tastes good.
This is only Part One of Doctor Obamastein, but it's scary. Really scary.
