Doctor Oz Celebrates 100th Episode of the Dr. Oz Show

Congrats Dr. Oz - Many More!

Today was the day Dr. Oz celebrated his one-hundredth program on daytime television. As a great inspiration to his fans, his studio audience consisted of only people who lost one hundred pounds. The stories were heartbreaking and awe inspiring. As a person who has fought the battle several times in my life, I was totally inspired.

Both men and women who lost from one hundred to well over two hundred pounds did it without surgery. This show gave anyone with even a little weight to lose, a true inspiration. The feelings of hopelessness and low self-esteem and even public ridicule were portrayed through these winners in the weight loss category.

The first three people featured were Diane, who lost 158 pounds, Bill who lost 175 and Tasha who lost 130 pounds. Diane is a mother with seven children who was a busy mother who lost her weight after her third child and maintained her weight through four more pregnancies. Bill was a couch potato who carried the social stigma of an overweight person and proclaims that he has a new lease on life. Tasha who hated to exercise is now a personal trainer and has a beautiful body to show for it. The before pictures of these people was a wonderful reason to change your lifestyle and start your new life.

The next person was Meryl, she was 377 pounds and on vacation when a lady walked up to her and asked her why she was so fat? Later that day they went to a restaurant and she did not even fit in the restaurant seat. After arriving back home, she started exercising and watching her weight and she has lost 195 pounds and is no longer on medications for high blood pressure and other meds too.

The next segment of the program was dedicated to reversing the signs of obesity. Donna, the next person featured lost 165 pounds. The body repairs itself after weight loss by reducing or even eliminating diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea and joint pain. Dr. Oz demonstrated what the omentum looks like in an obese person versus one from a person of normal weight and the difference was an eye opener; the larger one was seventeen times larger than the other one and this body part is located in the belly and what is sitting behind a beer belly or bay window or whatever you familiarly call a large fat belly.

The celebrity guest was Richard Simmons who has kept off 120 pounds for over forty years and is still the gregarious person we have all come to know and love. He cried as he always does and described how difficult it was to be an overweight child. He continues to get thousands of emails a week and he calls the people personally and talks to them. He describes us as a surgery happy society and it cannot be just done by surgery as an instant fix. Richard Simmons has been a fitness guru for thirty-five years and his rules are:

1. Knowing your self-worth, he states that you are worth more than the rainbows in the sky and the pearls in the ocean.

2. Counting your blessings and thank God for all you have and look at food differently and look at exercise differently and finally see the day you know it works for you.

Dr. Oz is truly a healthy inspiration for all of us and here is to hundreds more episodes of his help and understanding of the human beings who watch and enjoy his teaching and benefit by enjoying good health and happiness.
