Doctor Who Returns This Christmas!

Jersey
The new season of Doctor Who is just around the corner! But while the anticipating Doctor Who fans await Season Four, they will be temporarily appeased with a Doctor Who Christmas Special.

The Doctor Who Christmas special, Voyage of the Damned, will pick up at the ending of Season Three where the Titanic crashes into the TARDIS. David Tennant will star with pop princess Kylie Minogue who plays Astrid, a waitress aboard the Titanic. Geoffrey Palmer will star as Captain Smith. Other actors in the episode will include Clive Swift, Gray O'Brien, Debbie Chazen, Clive Rowe, Russell Tovey, and Jimmy Vee. According to the British newspaper, The Telegraph,Russell T. Davies the executive producer and writer of the Christmas episode said, "It's like one of those disaster movie epics in which the characters are clambering through the wreckage and the audience is always wondering who will live and who will die. Then there's the Doctor in the middle of it all, saving lives and doing what he does best." It's like one of those disaster movie epics in which the characters are clambering through the wreckage and the audience is always wondering who will live and who will die. It's like one of those disaster movie epics in which the characters are clambering through the wreckage and the audience is always wondering who will live and who will die. "Then there's the Doctor in the middle of it all, saving lives and doing what he does best." Voyage of the Damned, according to BBC will air on Christmas Day.

But, what about Season Four? Season Four will continue in the Spring 2008. The Doctor will team up with Donna (Catherine Tate) from last Christmas's Doctor Who special, Runaway Bride, and will visit Pompeii in A.D. 79 right before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. According to BBC, Russell T. Davies said, "Donna is stunned to find herself in the midst of history's most famous volcanic eruption" Remember the Ood from The Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit? The Doctor will visit their planet in the new season and will also pay Agatha Christie a visit.

Not only will Donna be returning. According to BBC, Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) will join up with the Doctor in the middle of Season Four. Actress Freema Agyeman hinted that Martha will be a relationship and will not see the Doctor in the same way as she had when she left him at the end of Last of the Time Lords.

In addition to Donna and Martha, another favorite companion will be returning. Remember the ending of Doomsday? Remember getting teary eyed upon hearing Rose confessing her feelings to the Doctor and realizing that she and the Doctor would be separated forever? Good news. Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) will return in Season Four. BBC refuses to divulge any other details concerning this other than she will return.

According to Russell T. Davies, "Viewers can expect many more ambitious storylines and a whole host of guest stars in 2008."

Good to know something "new" will be on, isn't it? It looks like the writer's strike is in for the long haul.
