The often thought of bully is the physically large and powerful type. Timid bullies come in all sizes and shapes, and are seldom thought of as bullies. So cowards are often just bully want to be's, unless power is delivered to them by the electoral process or their power is acquired with an elevation in rank as a police officer or military personnel for example.

The standard bully is usually obvious to the crowd. Pushing people around physically or inflicting pain on others, is a common trait.

A quiet sly timid bully may use their timid front, though it may not be just a front, to lure their victim into an environment of choice. Then a weapon, a partner, or partners in crime, because of their number, may be used to entice fear into a victim. A saying from the streets says, when a victim freezes in fright, a robber can do what they want. Fear expressed by a victim, increases their bravery.

To force victims to their knees.
