Documents to Go: A Palm OS Device Application Similar to Microsoft Office

Take Your Documents Wherever You Go!

Documents to Go is a modified version of Microsoft Office, made to run on Palm OS Devices. Documents to Go "standard" is the free version, and includes support for Word, and Excel. The more expensive versions of Documents To Go can include PowerPoint, and even Access. Documents to Go is made and distributed by DataViz, but has been approved my Microsoft as a compatible, portable Office program. Documents to Go recently was made compatible with Office 2007, and as a result Documents to Go now supports all versions of Office for your desktop so you never have to worry about compatibility.

Installing Documents to Go is very simple. All you have to do is download the Documents to Go install file. Running the install will install Documents to Go on your computer, as well as installing it onto your handheld the next time you sync to your computer. The main Documents to Go desktop application looks much like Palm Desktop, but it is used solely for syncing Word, PowerPoint, and other Office documents.

Using Documents to Go is also quite simple. To be able to view and edit a file on your handheld device you must first add that file. To do this open the Documents to Go desktop application and click the green "plus" symbol. Locate the file(s) you wish to add and click open. The next time you sync your Palm OS device those files will be added to your handheld. To access the files click on "Documents to Go" on your handheld and select them from the list. Not only can you edit and view these files on your Palm Handheld, but you can actually create new documents as well. When you sync your device these new documents will be automatically saved to "My Documents" on your computer.

Documents to Go is perhaps the easiest way to carry Microsoft Office in your pocket, as well as give you access to any files you need. The only drawback to Documents to Go is the price. Documents to Go "Standard" includes MS Word and Excel but costs $30.00. To get the complete Office package, Documents to Go "Total Office" you must pay $90.00. The only bonus is that many Palm OS devices come with Documents to Go "Standard" already installed, so there is no need to purchase the program. Overall Documents to Go is great, and is by far the best handheld Office program.
