Dodge Durango: Great SUV for a Large Family

Stlylish Good Looks in a Family Car, What More Could We Ask For?

As families grow, there comes a times when you have to upgrade to a larger vehicle. This decision is a major one for most families due to the cost of larger vehicles today. There is quite a bit of things to consider when buying a new car, and it is always wise do a bit of research before you run down to your local car dealerships. Of course the research part isn't always fun, but well worth the time and effort to get a good deal on a dependable vehicle. A good source could be friends or relatives with large families. Then there is the most knowledgable friend I have these days, my computer. Yes, it is sad I consider my computer a friend but he has been here for me in times of curiosity, and is a great place to dig up information!

After you have acquired information on larger sized automobiles, you probably have a good idea of what you want in a family vehicle. Some people do not seem to mind a station wagon type vehicle at all, but I had a big problem with one of those! Although I have four children, I still like to think I am quite cool, and would never drive one of those dork-mobiles. Minivans are pretty much the same to me. So the only type of automobile I could even consider was a sports utility vehicle.

It seems that we've gotten things all narrowed down doesn't it? Not necessarily, now it is time to find out which SUV is the best on gas mileage, seating capacity, and most importantly looks cool. Really, I am just kidding about looking cool being the most important but it is a consideration for some people.

We narrowed our choices down to the Lexus SUV, Infinity Q4 SUV, and the Dodge Durango. That decision did not take us too long, as the prices for the Lexus and Infinity were way over our budget! So it was decided, a Durango would be our new car.
We arrived at our local dealership knowing exactly what we wanted. I wanted a beautiful, shiny, red Durango with tan leather interior. So you see, I am not picky at all right? Just kidding, I knew it was a tall order but I knew what I wanted and ended up purchasing the car the owner of the dealership was driving.

Well, it has been three years now since I bought the Durango. My research paid off and we have really enjoyed it. The gas mileage is pretty good considering its size. We normally get 18 mpg in town. The drive is smooth and car-like. Seating is comfortable with plush leather and plenty of leg room. The only tight fit is in the third seat, but most often this is where children will be sitting so is not a concern. The stereo system sounds great, and we added a DVD player that flips down from the roof. The kids have really enjoyed the DVD player, and my husband and I have enjoyed not hearing children fussing with each other
on car trips. We also have loved having the heated front seats. I have to admit I have felt a bit guilty on cold days when my
rear is nice and toasty, while the children are chilly. The one and only negative thing I could say about the Durango is that it needs more cupholders. My children argue about where they will sit because they all want to be by a cupholder. Silly sounding but it is a bother if you are the one listening to them argue. Parents, I know you can sympathize.

All in all, we have found the Dodge Durango to be a wonderful family car. It's no simple task to find a vehicle that will hold 6 people, and still have you looking groovy. Okay, that was not cool to use that word "groovy". I was only joshing. So go out and treat yourself to a vehicle that will function well for your large family, and one that you can consider a very "sweet" ride.
