Does Anybody Remember the '90s?

How About the Awesome Commercials?

Carly Love
I am a '90s kid and I'm very proud of it. I discovered television by the time I was two years old. I never watched shows though, I always got excited about the cartoons. Here are five of my favorites.

My number one favorite commercial from the '90s was a commercial for Cookie Crisp cereal from 1993. Back then there was a dog, not a wolf, selling Cookie Crisp. In the commercial the dog tricks a police that has bought the cereal with a pretty girl. In the end, just like very good guy vs. bad guy scenarios, the plan backfires and the dog ends up getting arrested. Here is a site where you can watch the original commercial.

In 1999 I was big in to playing with Barbie dolls. So of course I was excited when I saw a Sit 'N Style Barbie commercial. It was a Barbie doll chair that you had to blow up and it came with stickers to decorate the chair and doll with. The commercial also said that it came with a keychain. Boy was I surprised when I brought it home and opened it to see that the chair was made upside down, it didn't come with a doll, and the stickers wouldn't stick. Here is the commercial from the same site as the Cookie Crunch cereal commercial.

Does anybody remember Red and Ned? Probably not. They were featured in the old Kraft Singles cheese commercials. They would fight over a grilled cheese sandwich and get themselves into some pretty sticky situations, no pun intended about the sticky cheese in the commercial. I miss good old cartoon commercials like this one.

Before the WII and PS3 there was the Nintendo and Pocket Pikachu. In 1998 everybody had to have a Pocket Pikachu. It was like having Pikachu from Pokemon right in your pocket. The commercial made it seem like it was the best thing in the world, but mine always died the next day. Pocket Pikachu was too high maintenance for young kids, that's why we never see them anymore. Here is the commercial.

1996 was when I had my first heart attack. That was the first time I saw a commercial on television that said Kenan and Kel from the show All that were getting their own show. Kenan and Kel were my childhood idols! They made everybody want to be like them, doing stupid things and never getting in trouble. I doubt anybody could be as excited by this commercial as I was, but here it is.

Talk about a blast from the past right!
