Does a "Bad" New Years Eve Mean You Will Have a Good New Years Day?
Turn Your Bad Luck into a Great Way to Start the New Year Off Right
First of all, I will not be up drinking all night, which means I will not be sleeping until noon, which means that I can start on my New Years resolutions on the first day of the New Year. Maybe this time I won't begin to give up on them on the first day because of exhaustion. Resolutions do not have to start on the first day of the new year, nor do they have to be difficult or unattainable. When you start off the first day doubting whether you can start at all no matter how attainable your goals are, however, it is not a good sign. Then when something else sets you back a few weeks later, it is much easier to give up since you have already encountered that doubt before, and put off your goals until you felt better. This time, I won't be too exhausted to start right away.
Second, I won't have to spend any money on my celebrations, which means I will be starting early on my first resolution of saving more money. I know that my plans would probably have cost me more than I had planned on spending anyway, so I'm not only starting in on my first resolution, I'm also saving myself from having to make another minimum payment on my student loan.
Third, I will have a nice, relaxing evening, and wake up refreshed. That actually sounds like a great way to start the New Year. There is nothing to be depressed about there. If I had gone through with my plans, I would probably have a very unpleasant morning, and start 2007 off on the wrong foot. In fact, I would probably start 2007 by falling out of bed head first, and not even start on any foot at all. That wouldn't be a good start to the year.
All in all, perhaps having a "bad" New Years Eve, without a fun party will turn out to be good in the long run, and result in a much better New Years Day than I would otherwise have had. For all of you sitting home alone (hopefully I'm not alone in being alone), just remember that you have a great potential to start 2007 on the right foot.
