Does Bare Escentuals Really Prevent Acne?

MidwestGirl
Bare Escentuals is often said to prevent breakouts and to help clear up the skin. Its main ingredients--titanium dioxide, zinc oxide and mica--are purported to be non-comedogenic, meaning they won't clog the pores. Bare Escentuals is often advertised as "makeup so pure you can sleep in it."

However, some users have reported that Bare Escentuals, which is advertised as ideal for acne prone skin, actually broke them out more. Many speculate that Bare Escentuals, despite its non-comedogenic ingredients, may cause breakouts because bacteria can easily develop in the applicator brush, which users inadvertently end up spreading all over their skin, causing breakouts.

Ultimately, Bare Escentuals is indeed good for the skin, especially when compared to other foundation brands. However, even though Bare Escentuals is advertised as a mineral makeup that is so pure that users can wear it to bed, women who wear Bare Escentuals should still take the same precautions that they would take with other makeup brands. Wash your makeup brushes frequently with antibacterial cleanser, and always remove your makeup before bed.
