Does the Bible Mention Global Warming and Climate Change?

Pat Lunsford
In the bible, Jesus spoke of a future time when the whole world would plunge into absolute chaos and many of the events he described are indicative of the impact that global warming could have on our planet.

"And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth." (Luke)

We are living in a time unlike any other in history. There is war and the threat of war in nearly every part of the world. Several poor nations around the world are literally starving and many of them travel long distances to get a little food and water just to keep their families alive.

Global warming has caused drought in many areas, resulting in crop failure, dried up water resources, and disease.

"... And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars... and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places... For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be." (Matt.)

There is an event taking place in the universe that only happens every 26,000 years or so. The sun and planets are lining up with the center of the Milky Way and the alignment should be complete by December 21, 2012. It is widely believed that this galactic alignment could somehow be linked to the heating of our planet because other planets are experiencing global warming as well.

Furthermore, many believe this galactic alignment could be a factor in the worldwide disasters we've experienced in the last decade such as super-hurricanes and mega-earthquakes which has created killer tsunamis. These mega-disasters are predicted to get worse as we approach the year 2012.

The Bible clearly states that we are to pay attention to the things happening around us so we will know where we are in prophecy.

Jesus said, "Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled." (Matt. 24:32)

There are alarmists and capitalists spreading panic across the Internet warning people to find a safe place, but people can't escape the kind of events they're describing.

Could global warming be the "beginning of sorrows" that Jesus Christ described?

"For the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh." (Luke 21:26)

There are a number of conspiracies circulating around the world such as the NWO, Fema, Chemtrails, UFO conspiracy- just to name a few!

Why are we being bombarded with so many dooms day scenarios? Could it be that we are being desensitized? Or is there an attempt being made to divert our attention from what is really going on? Jesus said, "Do not be deceived."

Global warming could actually be a prelude to something much worse. There are a number of people preparing for an uncertain future by stocking food and supplies. However, preparing for the body without a thought to our soul is just plain ludicrous. Those who belong to Christ will be "accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man." (Luke 21:36)

Jesus Christ, the savior of the world, is the only safe place.
