Does Bruno Tonioli of Dancing with the Stars Owe Michael Bolton an Apology?

What Would Simon Cowell Say?

Jolie du Pre
Bruno Tonioli of Dancing with the Stars told Michael Bolton, during episode 3, that his Jive was the worst in 11 seasons. In Episode 4, Michael Bolton and Chelsie Hightower were eliminated. As reported at Today, Michael Bolton is demanding an apology for Bruno's remarks on episode 3. "I think he should apologize publicly and he should be reprimanded for it," Bolton said.

How good was Michael Bolton?

Michael Bolton wants Bruno Tonioli of Dancing with the Stars to publicly apologize for his remarks. Did Bruno express those remarks to someone who is a good dancer?

Take a poll. Michael Bolton was stiff, lacked energy and lacked rhythm. Part of the problem may have been because he was recovery from a throat infection, but he was stiff, lacked energy and lacked rhythm before the throat infection when he danced during the premiere.

Perhaps the award winning Michael Bolton, who has a beautiful voice, is not used to hearing that he's not the greatest? How many entertainers take the punches but keep on going? David Hasselhoff, for example, didn't get a load of accolades during his brief stay on Dancing with the Stars, and yet, he left smiling with his head held high. He may have an alcohol problem, but he certainly doesn't have a personality problem.

Should a judge be truthful or should a judge sugar coat it?

One thing about Simon Cowell of American Idol, he was no-nonsense. If you sucked, he told you. How successful will American Idol be now that their no-nonsense judge is off the show? Will Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez be tough enough, or will they sugar coat everything they say? There was a reason that Simon Cowell was respected by so many viewers. And there's a reason many wonder if American Idol will go down the tubes now that Simon is gone.

Bruno Tonioli of Dancing with the Stars told Michael Bolton what very may well be the truth, and Bolton didn't like it. After all, the truth hurts.

"My mom was there, she's 90, she flew down to see the show ... and I just didn't expect that level of disrespect from him," said Bolton. So should judges watch their words in order not to offend family members? Michael Bolton worked hard on his routine, but so do all the other Dancing with the Stars cast members with family members in the audience. Is Michael Bolton special?

For Bruno Tonioli to publicly apologize, and to also be reprimanded, sets a precedent. It says - don't tell a contestant what you really mean unless you can make it sound nice. Is that good for Dancing with the Stars? Michael Bolton was offended, but that doesn't mean his reaction would be the reaction of every Dancing with the Stars contestant.

Shame on Bruno for your insulting and disrespectful comments! Even Len had to step in and reprimand Bruno as he did go too far, he was rude and yes he should apologize not only to Mr Bolton, but everyone who heard the outragious and unnecessary rant. The other judges gave their professional opinion on Mr Bolton's performance without belittling him. Even if the dancing was terrible, no one has the right to speak to someone in that manner, Mr Bolton was not whinning, it took a lot of courage to speak up and let Bruno know he was wrong, I applaud him. Not everyone enjoys watching a judge humiliate a person who is making an effort to dance, no matter how badly the performance may have been.

An apology? Michael Bolton should apologize to all the viewers who had to watch him. The man couldn't even move his arms to the beat of the music. One would think a HAS BEEN SINGER could at least keep the beat. It is a weekly contest so of course you are going to be critized and Bruno gave his opinion that it was the worst he had seen in 11 seasons. Truth hurts, grow up and stop being the diva that has been reported since you joined this. I mean no one on DWTS is an "A Lister" anymore, except for some athletes maybe. Everyone is a has been or a BIG wanta be like Kate G. I am proud of Bruno for telling him like it was, I mean did you see him??? Most people would of been glad to get off when you embarrass yourself like that weekly, Bruno did you a favor Michael, YOU SHOULD PUBLICLY THANK HIM and then go back to the rock you were hiding under for how many years now, 10, 15 or 20????

If Michael Bolton didn't want criticism, he shouldn't have gone on DWTS. Bruno was just doing his job. Good coverage and analysis!

Michael Bolton reacted like a Diva - very arrogant. He doesn't deserve an apology from Bruno - Bruno was hired to judge the dances - that is what he's getting paid to do; and, I can understand why his comments were negative in some respects; Bolton was a huge disgrace to DWTS. He couldn't even dance what he was taught...I know his partner did a wonderful job trying to teach Bolton the dance. She's a fantastic dancer and instructor. Shame on you Bolton - why don't you just bolt your way out of dancing period - Your singing leaves much to be desired, as well.

Micheal does not have experience in dancing like some other people and what Bruno said is unacceptable, rude, and down right awfull. He should be replaced. I have not respect for him and do not wish to hear his comments ever again.

We tell our youth not to belittle people and then we have judges that do it all the time. Yes Michael Bolton was not very good at dancing, but tell him in a professional way with some positive feedback. I think Bruno disrespects many of the dancers and usually when it is his turn to speck I change the channel so I don't have to listen to him blast the dancers.

I thought the judges had some class!! Although I agree that Michael Bolton was "not the best dancer", the way that Bruno belittled him and degraded him on live national tv was disrespectful and very unclassy. What about the occassions when our so-called "classy" judge made several inappropriate comments to contestants and dancers and would stand up and gyrate at his position on the panel. I found that was not the "appropriate" way to handle himself, so what makes Bruno think that he has any more talent and any more class than the contestants. I absolutely love the show, and even sometimes the controversy, but this time he went way, way too far. Bruno needs to show a little decorum, a little character, and a lot more class. Why doesn't he take some of his own advise and some of Len's? Perhaps its time to give him a low score and remove him from the show until he can prove that he deserves to be on a classy show. Maybe Bruno should go to another network, such as "Fox" or join one
