The figures of these women remind me of the old story where the ugly ducking turns into a beautiful swan, except in reverse. It used to be "how old are you", was a no-no of a question to women however, today it is "what size are you?". I blame the Supermodels on this bumless society that we live in today
The fashion industry and the catwalks swarming with insect-like women; agerage weight to be a supermodel today is 53-60 kg, I have a cat that weights more than that. These stick-like creatures influenced the wealthy and jet setting society and now if you go to Hollywood there is not a good sized bum to be seen anywhere.
Fashion models are much thinner than average women across the world and the frightening thing is that the increase of anorexia nervosa has reared it's ugly head again. The invasion and frenzy of every woman who "wanted to be in the scene" to starve themselves has no gone far beyond a joke. We have all seen these girls at their best (you know who I am talking about), and then seen them when they have to be sent to rehab for eating disorders.
I was truly delighted when I heard that the organizers of the Madrid Fashion Week declared that they would ban models with a body mass of less than 18.5 and five models were disqualified on the spot. I think this is a definite move in the right direction however it is only the tip of the iceberg. The Fashion Industry have taken steps to rectify the half-starved look however they have a long way to go in order to dissuade young women to eat correctly.
Hopefully we may get to see a more favored rounder figure in the future; something I would personally like is to see women with bums again. No more of those flat chested, bumless, gaunt looking women. It is not sexy at all for us guys. It may sell designer collections to some women but realistically a proper woman would not be able to fit a size 2 dress over the top of her head.
Come on girls, cop on.
