Does Dane Cook Have as Much Charisma as He Exudes?

Lana
Dane Cook unfortunately has been publically snubbed by fellow comedians Joe Rogan and Ron White who disagree stating he lacks "real"material in his acts. The high energy controversial comedian has released two albums (Retaliation reaching double platinum status becoming the highest charting comedy album in 28 years),he's performed on several tv shows, had his own HBO special,a nationwide tour named " Tourgasm" ,been in 18 movies (lead role in one) and has actually kissed Charlize Therons "booty" on the Tonight Show.

To claim that his acts are not "real" would be hard to swallow,in fact he has used his life issues and experiences in all of his comedy acts.He did work at Burger King, where his older brother was his manager and he did work at Video Horizons, both of which are highlighted in ingenious and hilarious antics.Dane was born in 1972 in Cambridge,Massachusetts raised in Arlington, where his brought up religion is Roman Catholic (which he also uses in his acts) and is one of 7 kids,1 older brother and 5 sisters (also making appearances in his acts). It seems ludicrous that one would go on and on to deny the realism that he brings to his stand up,perhaps it's merely jealousy?

In 2000 Dane pooled together $25,000 of his own money from savings and his retirement fund to fund and launch www.danecook.com his own interactive website to help boost his career and stay connected with his fans,he also became one of the very first celebrities to go worldwide on myspace and now has over 1 million "friends" on his profile. On Danes myspace profile he keeps his fans updated on tour dates, photos, video clips and shares his comedic insight on his blogs. His fans have been well named the "Dane train".

In his acts he has utilized his own slang terminology such as "sangwich" , "The Wall" and "BK Lounge" referring to sandwich,Walgreens and Burger King catching on like wild fire with his many fans. His witty attention getting wise cracks make us all think with quotes such as " I love the movies,I call them cinematic adventures","...since back in the day, which is Wednesday by the way", and my new favorite one " ..I have a new saying, what I see in Vegas,I'm telling everybody..".

I became a Dane Cook fan about 2 years,I had first heard his act on a cd and laughed so hard I cried and had to listen to it over and over.Since then I have bought both cd's Harmful If Swallowed and Retaliation for my personal collection.I loved Vicious Circle which was his HBO special,I don't think that there has been nothing that I haven't thought was funny by Dane.If you haven't heard his cd's,seen him on tv or in a movie then you must be living under a rock and I for one definitely think that his creative imagination and his charisma is what is captivating about him.

It is never right to steal money, especially from one's own family. However, I would urge Dane to be extremely forgiving; Dane makes millions of dollars per year and was paying his only brother a mere $150,000 a year. That is an extraordinarily low wage for someone trying to purchase a home and have a decent life in Hollywood. Even the tiniest little bungalow homes cost over a half million dollars in that area. Dane was underpaying his brother. That is NOT to say his brother's actions are ok. They are not. But if Dane Cook is smart, he'll make things right with his brother. Money can be replaced. A family member can't be replaced, and we're talking about Dane's only brother (he has several sisters, though). I've had two family members steal money from me. One stole $30,000 and ruined our chances of closing the deal on a house I was in the process of buying. Another family member stole less, only a few thousand dollars, but it still hurts. However, people do make mistakes. Even siblings

I'm not sure if he has as much charisma as he exudes because entertainers often put on an act to the public that may differ from their own personality. There's an adage that goes something like "every comic has a dark side." Nonetheless, I'm a Dane Cook fan. He reminds me of people I grew up with. But to make one correction to your article...sangwich is not his own slang term. Any Italian/New Yorker will tell you that! Good article!
