Does it Feel Like Christmas?

Pablo Diaz
What makes Christmas, Christmas? Is it the traditional Christmas tree that we put up? The presents that we buy for people? Is it the time we spend with our loved ones and family members? Is Christmas going to a well-lit neighborhood that has the best Christmas decorations in town? Or is Christmas merely just another Holiday that gives us some time off of school and word?

Christmas is much more than the things I've mentioned. Unlike popular belief, Jesus Christ was not born in December. He was not born on the 25th of December, which is merely just a date that people use to celebrate Christmas. It is stated that Christ was born when the Shepherds were on the fields taking care of their sheep. I researched online if it snows in Israel and I was surprised to find that it does snow. I went deeper and looked for the month that winter starts, it starts in October and it lasts up until February. Now, if Christ was born during winter; from the information that I found, we can say that December is considered to be a winter month in Israel. Now, as I was saying, if Christ was born in winter, born in December, how could the Shepherds be looking after their flock?

That is the best evidence that tells us that Jesus Christ was NOT born during December. We can assume that if he was not born in December he couldn't have been born on December 25th either.

You can do your own research and you will find out that December 25th is just a date that people use to celebrate Christmas. Why is it? Well, if you look for the information on your own you will learn that in Pagan tradition, they had a similar "holiday" which takes place during this time of year. Now, I am not going to get into this. I'll leave it to you so you can find the information yourself. Just go to google.com and search for Christmas vs. Pagan traditions.

We can, however, still commemorate the birth of Christ if we want during Christmas. It may not be accurate, but its up to you. I personally believe that we have to celebrate Christ's birth everyday of the year. Christ was great and through him we find eternal Salvation.

Again, think about the most important thing during Christmas. From the reasons I first stated when I started to write this article to your own personal reasons. I personally think that Jesus Christ and my family and loved ones are the most important things during Christmas. I do, however, believe that Christmas is not the only time of year that I could celebrate and have a feast with my family and loved ones. I can do that any day of the year.

This Christmas ask yourself what the most important thing in Christmas is for you. Think it through, leave me a message, maybe we have something in common!
