The pursuit of God is something that many people throughout history have attempted to both prove and disprove. Whether it is the "God is dead" movement of the 1970's and '80s, or the Jesus movement of the 1960's, the debate rages on. The question of God's existence plagues the mind of the person who dares ask. It is a question that must be addressed and can be answered.
The thing that one can do in order to prove that God is real is to simply ask themselves one simple question. Do I believe in God? The answer to that question definitively proves whether God is real or not. If you believe that God exists then He has given you the enviable ability to believe, and therefore He exists. If you do not believe in God, then he has not given you the ability to believe and therefore He does not really care what you think.
Think about it for a minute. If God truly is your creator, then He is Sovereign. He is in complete control over that which He has created. The same way in which a parent is in control of a new born infant, or a mechanic is in complete control of a cars handling and horspower characteristics, or a potter over clay, God is in control of that in which He would have created. If God is in complete control of you, then He is in complete control of everything about you. He influences your thoughts and actions, and if indeed he controls our thoughts and actions then He controls whether or not we are able to believe in Him. If you were God, wouldn't you retain the right to control what someone thinks? If you believe that God exists, then he has given you the ability to believe.
If a person answers no the age old atheistic question it does not disprove God, rather it proves ones inability to believe. So why might God decide to not allow someone to believe? That is a question that would take up more space than the internet can provide, so I will not attempt to answer it in any other way than to speak again to God's sovereignty.
The only middle ground that one can find in this question is when a person waffles between a yes and no answer. One who waffles on this question is really speaking to their inability to believe and therefore does not believe.
So I ask you...does God exist?

Post a CommentOkay, so I don't believe a word you said, except that God does exist and I think it can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Nonetheless, it is an... interesting viewpoint to say the least. A huge chunk of the Word is about man's free will to choose. Why would He call us to be witnesses if no one really had a choice in the first place?
Thank you for a well written easy to understand piece
While I don't agree with this, I do find it interesting. Actually understandable! Some churches teach predestination, fate, etc. They even claim to represent the Bible. But God is most honored by constructing creatures of Free Will, rather than robots. If such ones choose Him as their Father, what a wonderful thing. Besides fate, some believe God is "in charge". While this seems only logical, in fact, it is not currently the situation. Well, it is as far as the operation of the universe is concerned, but not as far as mankind. Currently, Satan is in charge. Isn't that what one might expect based on current events and atrocities?- Matthew 5:8, 9.
