Does Kristin Davis Have a Sex Tape?

Actress Kristen Davis, who returns to the role of Charlotte in the upcoming Sex and The City Movie, is now rumored to have joined the ranks of celebrities with sex tapes. Racy photos thought to depict Davis in a variety of compromising positions have also spread across the internet at a furious rate, and the young woman in the photos certainly does bear a resemblance to Davis.

Davis denies that she is the woman in the photos. Her rep told TMZ that it is "not a photo of Kristin Davis," and has also stated that no sex tape of the actress exists. But, we've heard this story before...

The timing of this latest celebrity sex tape scandal seems all-too convenient, however; the Sex and The City Movie is slated for release on May 30th. Getting the rumor mill to buzz about one of its stars would be an ideal way to promote the film.

Regardless of whether there is a sex tape or not and whether it stars Kristin Davis or not, the rumor is certainly working in the favor of Sex and The City producers. Davis tops yahoos "most searched" list, and searching her name inevitably leads to information about the Sex and the City movie.

Davis certainly wouldn't be the first star to be sacrificed on the altar of dignity for the sake of fame or money. If you'll remember, a while back, Pamela Anderson of Baywatch, and rocker Tommy Lee managed to boost their careers by releasing a sex tape. More recently, Paris Hilton experienced a meteoric rise to fame when her sex tape, "One Night in Paris" was "accidentally" leaked, and quickly became one of the best-selling pornographic films of all time. And who can forget about Kim Kardashian? I certainly can. Olympian Bruce Jenner's well-endowed step daughter has no credits to her name other than a "leaked" sex tape, and yet her name keeps appearing everywhere -- even in articles like this one.

While she has had her share of steamy onscreen moments -- as Samantha on HBO's Sex and the City, as well as in previous roles -- including one on 90's drama Melrose Place, I actually think it's highly doubtful that Kristin Davis has a sex tape out there in the land of cyber-porn. She seems to have a little more taste than that. But one can't help but notice how such a rumor can have an impact on a star's career, and potentially even on ticket sales for a movie about...what else? Sex.
