Does This Matter?

Steven Jacob Borthick
So then does this even matter?
I'd have to say it does
If the other matters some
Can't this too?

But if they both do
It leaves me wondering,
"What doesn't?"

I find my answer here
It's wondering what doesn't matter
That doesn't matter.

I think I know what you mean. I guess I have gotten to the point in life where I have had to prioritize for the sake of my sanity. What matters to me are matters of the heart and people, and living things...accumulation and status meansnothing to me. I think what matters is what we want to matter. What doesn't matter is what we don't care about. Your poem suggests that it is all within one's own perception. Whoa! This little ten lined poems speaks VOLUMES about life. I am blown away by such a deep philosophical poem by such a yound=g man. Goes to show us all that age does not always have much to do with mental maturity.

A presentation of a dilemma that often happens in everyone's mind. The poem may also seem like an obscure one at the first reading. An excellent modern poem.
