Does Pornography Hurt Women?

Hannah
Pornography can and does hurt women in many different ways. Let's explore some of the more important ways pornography effects women, and ends up hurting them.

Many women who deal with partners that must have their pornography suffer form low self-esteem. In men's minds they believe they can separate the pornography form their relationships. In women's minds it's directly involved. Most average women certainly cannot compete with pencil thin, breast enhanced, airbrushed fantasies that are included in most of the pornography men like to look at it. , the same with porn films. It's an unrealistic expectation that most women just cannot live up to. Some women pretend it doesn't bother them; others make it clear it does. For most women it affects their self-esteem, and can end up causing depression as well. Most women want to believe although they may not be the most beautiful girl in the world in reality, that's how they want the love of their life to see them. A fantasy maybe, but also very true.

Most people know the porn industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. I wouldn't be surprised with the millions of porn sites now on the Internet, it's now a trillion dollar industry. What is important to remember here is that women who are used for the porn industry. Every porn addict out there will tell you that the women are consenting adults, and that's all that counts. Well, consenting can be a dangerous word when used incorrectly. Many of these women were victims in some way, way before they became consenting adults. Their thinking is often skewed about what right and wrong is, as well as feeling like they aren't worth anything except as sex objects. Many are drug addicted and will do anything for a fix. Some nowadays are even single moms that feel thee is no other way they can afford to raise a child. Whatever the reason the porn industry does play upon their victim status and thinking to make money. As most right thinking people believe, you don't victimize those who are already victims.

Last but not least, and one of the most important hurts of all is what pornography teaches boys and men about women. Yes, pornography used on a regular basis can set up an object thinking mentality. What I mean by that is after a certain amount of time women are looked at as just simply objects there to please and nothing more. This does effect how boys and men look at women on a daily basis. After all objects are just objects. Objects have no feelings, no rights, and don't deserve any kind of respect. Yes, pornography can be a stepping-stone, to nullifying feelings toward women as human beings, into mere objects to be used. What is this teaching are sons, and what is it saying to our daughters?

It has always fascinated me how men involved in pornography never really get it, especially the ones who have daughters, and sisters. Do they really think that any one woman deserves less respect than another? Do they ever think how they would feel if their daughter or sister was in the porn industry? What they fail to remember is every woman is someone's daughter, sister, or mother, including the women in their life. You can't have it both ways no matter how hard you try. You can either respect women, or not!

FYI: Pornography is hurtful to all women, and if we love and respect the women in our life, we have to say NO to pornography!
