Does it Really Matter What You Wear to Your Graduation?

Mrs. Renee
Graduation time is just about here and many are probably started to feel the excitement associated with this event. When it comes to graduations most schools require that you purchase a cap and gown with the school colors for the event. Some also require that you dress appropriately under the cap and gown. The one thing that students should worry about it making sure that what they wear is comfortable and not sloppy.

What you wear also can depend greatly on the weather. If it is a really hot and humid day then you obviously would not want to wear anything to warm under your cap and gown. Of course this does not mean that you should suddenly wear your birthday suit to the graduation. Most dress codes will say that you just have to be neat and clean. For boys it could be a nice pair of cake pants, and a button up shirt, and for girls it could be as simple as a nice skirt and a nice top. You do not need to dress like you are on your way to some business meeting or like you re on your way to a wedding. There really is nothing wrong with wearing what is comfortable as long as you are neat and clear.

The boys do not need to wear a suit or a blazer. For one thing if you do this you will end up being way too hot even if the event is held indoors. Remember that you will have to still wear the gown on top of your outfit. Most kids plan parties for later in the evening, so you can always go home and change into more appropriate party gear. When it comes to your jewelry you can definitely wear what you want. Just try to make sure that it goes with your outfit. Remember that it is your graduation and it should be enjoyable for everyone including you. There will definitely be a lot of speeches made, and you will be sitting for a long period of time, so keep this in mind when you are preparing your outfit. When it comes to shoes stay away from sneakers unless they look dressy. As for the girls make sure you don't wear anything that you could accidentally trip in. It would really be embarrassing if you suddenly trip and make a fool out of yourself. Then it really would not matter what you are wearing.
