Does Red Sports Car Means More Ticket?

WRITER
Throughout many years in my younger life I have receive numerous traffic tickets. The majority of the tickets were for speeding. That time I was driving a 2002 red Trans Am. It has a 5.8 liter 350 horsepower engine with aftermarket exhaust. The engine would rattle all the way to the exhaust. It was a true high performance sports car. After many years with the Trans Am I had to make a departure and settle down with a family SUV. My driving was still the same nothing has changed. However the tickets stopped coming. Was I getting less noticed by the police? There is a lot of controversy about driving a sports car is a police magnet. I do not think this is a myth but reality.

One time while I was driving I was pulled over and issued a speeding ticket. The police told me the reason he pulled me over was because of the color of my car. The fact that it was a red sports car and he asked me to open my hood to see what I have done to the engine. Then he informed me that the car attracted unwanted attention on the road.

I was pulled over one day right after work. The police stated that he pulled me over because my exhaust was too loud. Then he wanted to check under the hood to see if I had illegal parts and was wondering how I passed the State Inspection. Everything I have done to the car was completely legal. Then after constant harassment I was free to go.

There was a time where I was issued a ticket for speeding going over 5 mph. This officer pulls me over and informs me that I was going 5 over the speed limit. He told me that driving a sports car that I could not get away with going over any amount over the limit.

With my experiences with sports cars I have notice that most officers will single out these vehicles. Many people say that it is a myth. However I have been pulled over too many times for having a sports car. I have been told too many times that the reason I was pulled over was because of my vehicle. I do believe that officers do single out sports car not on purpose but because it is noticeable on the road.

I had a black camaro and got pulled over a lot. Got my only speeding ticket ever in that car, and got pulled several times so they could check to see if I had a seatbelt on .

This is a great article chef! When my son was 17 his father gave him a used red suv to drive - NOT a great idea. BEsides the normal or extra tickets he got just because of his age and speeding, he had several cops tell him he got stopped because the car was red for minor infractions. Weird.

Interesting. I've heard that the colors black and red are both targets.

I hadn't considered this issue before. I drive a BMW that I brought with me from Europe when I moved to America and I've never been pulled over.

I've had two speeding tickets, one in my old red Z24 and one in a green camaro. Of course, in the camaro I was really really speeding!
