Does Softlips® Live Up to Its Name?

A Review of the Lip Balm Softlips®

Rissa Watkins
During a recent hospital stay my lips became so chapped and dry they were peeling. I normally use Burt's Bees for my dry lips but it wasn't cutting it. My husband went to the store to search for something else for me to try. He saw Softlips and thought the ingredients sounded good.

The ingredients include sunflower seed oil, olive oil, jojoba seed oil, vitamin E and sunflower seed wax. All sound like good moisturizers.

The first thing I noticed when I put it on was it felt a little oily. This wasn't necessarily a bad thing against my extremely dry lips, but if your lips aren't as chapped it might be too much. The lip balm worked its way down into the driest parts of my lips and soothed the dryness.

There isn't an added scent as far as I can tell. No fruity or mint smell at all. It smells a hint of olive oil mixed with jojoba. It's a very light scent.

The same goes for taste. There is a hint of sweetness but no discernible flavor.

Just to let you know how dry my lips were, I was slightly dehydrated from not being able to drink very much so my lips were about as dry as they could get. Within two days of using Softlips my lips had stopped peeling. They were still dry but getting better.

After a week of using Softlips my lips were no longer chapped. I can rub them together without pain and smile without worrying about them cracking and bleeding.

I highly recommend using Softlips for extremely dry lips. It soothed the dryness and healed the cracking and peeling. The cost was $1.49 so the price is right. You might be tempted to skip Softlips because of the low price thinking it won't work, but trust me, Softlips works.

Softlips is the ultimate! I adore it! Cherry, Coconut and Peach are my favs but I have a friend who swears by Vanilla and Mint. I wear it all the time, and the tinted ones for when you want a little bit of *makeup* or under make up, it makes your lipstick go on really really smooth.

You know, I'm so glad you wrote this. I've wondered if Softlips was any good since I first saw it in a Seventeen magazine back in the nineties. I've been waiting for someone to write this article for that long. :)
