Does Tiger Woods Want a Quickie Divorce?

While it is no secret that Elin Nordegren has been talking about getting a divorce ever since the "Tiger Gate" scandal broke, the latest rumor, according to "Extra" TV, is that Tiger Woods is the one seeking a quick divorce. According to the ABC show, Tiger Woods may be the one who wants a "quickie divorce" so he can put the entire scandal behind him and get back out on the golf course without all those pesky distractions - you know, like a wife and kids.

Wait a minute! Wasn't it Tiger Woods who said he was going to put golfing on the back burner while he took time off to focus on "being a better husband, father and person?" I guess it is hard to focus on your family when you are on a yacht in the Bahamas and your wife and kids have flown off to Sweden.

Elin's friends have been telling news outlets a divorce is a 100% sure thing for over a week. From what her friends are telling the media, it appears Elin might have been open to reconciling in spite of the affairs - the MANY affairs - but she is supposedly unable to get over Tiger's reported three-year relationship with one of his mistresses, as well as another affair which supposedly took place while she was pregnant with one of Tiger's children. Now reports indicate Elin is planning to not only divorce Tiger but to also ask for half of his $600 million fortune.

If Tiger Woods is really considering a quickie divorce, he probably will not quibble over a few million dollars, especially since celebrity justice reporter Jane Velez-Mitchell reported on "The View" that Elin Nordegren has hired legendary attorney Sorrell Trope, "the premiere divorce guy in Hollywood" according to Velez-Mitchell.

Although no new mistresses have popped out of the woodwork this week, the rumors surrounding his known mistresses continue to circulate. The latest rumors - and I stress these are just rumors - involve Rachel Uchitel. Rumors have her not only pregnant with Tiger's child (which she denies), but also very near that Bahamas-bound yacht. I only mention it because Rachel Uchitel was not only the first mistress to come forward, but she also seems to be the mistress most closely linked to Tiger Woods.

While we are speculating, here's another thought. I wonder if Elin knew or at least suspected there were some affairs before Rachel Uchitel came forward, since the affairs reportedly went on for several years. Perhaps she was inclined to turn a blind eye or to live in denial for a while, but it is possible the idea of a divorce was not sudden and new for Elin.

In any case Tiger Woods has now replaced Bill Clinton as the butt of the "I did not have sex with that woman" joke book.
