I came across Sally Hansen's newest Cracked Collection of nail polish overcoats about a month ago in a local Target. Unfortunately every time I looked at the end display there would not be a single polish to purchase. An empty display case. Finally, after 4 weeks of endless checking, I came across just one bottle of it. Luckily for me, it was the black color, which they named Ink Splatter.
So what's the big deal? Why are these polishes flying off of shelves?
The Crackle Collection of polishes create a really neat cracked effect, sort of like a marbled notebook. Basically you go ahead and paint your nail in any color you wish, once the polish dries, you then paint over it using the Crackle polish. Within seconds the polish will begin to spread apart creating the neat cracked effect.
Ah yes, sounds cool, but does it work?
I painted my nails a hot pink color, allowed them to dry, and went ahead and painted a layer of Ink Splatter on top of the pink color. The polish dries sort of quickly, so you have to work fast. As you paint, the polish immediately begins to spread apart, and the cracked effect is instant.
Be careful though, although it looks dry, it does take a bit to fully cure.
Overall:
Sally Hansen: Crackle Overcoat in Ink Splatter, truly works like a charm, and it does exactly as advertised. I love the effect, and the fact that it is long lasting. I've had my nails done for a week now, with only subtle signs of fading at the tips.
I do not have to wonder now, why these polishes are flying off of shelves as fast as they are. It's because they are awesome, giving you a salon quality like finish with little effort.

Post a CommentHave you tried Pure Ice's version and if so how do you think they compare? I just did a review on Pure Ice Crackle (Waiting for editor approval). I chose Pure Ice because it was cheaper and I liked the colors better, but I'm thinking of trying other shades too.
I so badly want to try this!!!
