Dog the Bounty Hunter, Apology

Well, I must admit that maybe, just maybe I went a little too far in my article about Dog the Bounty Hunter. I received allot of "hate mail" from Dog's fans. If you took the time to read my other article, I never called Dog or his family names. What I did say was that Beth would have fit in nicely with the Nazis. Some of that is based on my observations of her character on the show. I owe Beth an apology. I am sure that allot of what we see on A&E is purely dramatized and that she is "acting" based on what she thinks people want to see. Honestly, I think that Beth and Dog are great parents and do really well with their family. That must be admired. I also admit that my article was based more on "page views" and opinion rather than fact.

Truth is, I don't know Dog or Beth and my opinions were derived sole from the show and other public appearances. The content of my article was based on the fact that Dog and family often talk about the fugitives they are after like they are the scum of the earth. I assume that bounty hunting is not that much different from war in the fact that it must be easier if you dehumanize your opponent. When we are at war our government does its best to dehumanize our foes by naming them. In WWII we were at war with the Huns and now we are at war with terrorists. They never say that we are at war with the German families or dirt farmers or the poor of the third world countries. If we thought of our adversaries as human, it would be much harder to justify killing them. It seems to me that Dog and family must use this same strategy when hunting fugitives to make it easier to justify.

If you will notice on "Dog the Bounty Hunter" once they catch a fugitive, they start to see the human side of their job. I believe that they are truly compassionate people, otherwise they would not try to help the people once they catch them. The thing is, I am not in their shoes, nor would I want to be. I have no idea why they slander their runaways and then once they catch them they are all nice. In my first article I said something to the effect that if you are going to slur someone behind their back, you should have the balls to do it to their face. Now after some consideration, I believe my theory on dehumanizing their prey probably makes it easier to do their job. Although I am not backing down on the hypocrisy of their actions.

After writing my first article, I received several comments that bordered on "hate mail" which made me take a look at why I wrote what I wrote and how I would feel if I was in their position. I am not perfect by any means. Someone commented that if they followed me around all day that they could surely find a reason not to like me. I must agree, I often find that I do things that I don't like about myself. As anyone honest will tell you the same thing. However, I am like anyone else and must constantly work to improve myself. Another comment I received basically said that I was no different from Dog because I am slandering him and making my living at the expense of other peoples misery. Well, I don't make anywhere near a living at writing. As someone was so kind to point out, I need an entry level English writing class. (I was top of my class in writing, in college)

In my other article, I never called Dog or anyone else a name in that entire piece. The closest I got to that was saying that Beth was full of malice and that she would fit in nicely with the Nazis in leading the undeserving to the gas chamber. O.K. maybe I went a little too far with that. However, if you can watch that show and tell me that she doesn't have a mean streak, then your blind. The Nazi comment comes from another theory of mine. If the government wanted to take anyone of us out, all they would have to do is put our picture and a couple of half-truths on Americas Most Wanted. Then someone like Beth and Dog would come and get you regardless of what was true. They would gladly turn you over to the electric chair for cash whether you were innocent or not. So, maybe my comment was a little strong, but it was based on the truth.

To Dog and Beth, I am sorry that you have been disgraced. I am sorry that I took advantage of your misery in order to increase my page views. I am sorry that your son felt like he had to out you as a racist. I apologize if anything that I have said or written has hurt you or your family in any way. I guess that it is easy to point a finger. I couldn't pass the scrutiny that you are under especially if my family turned on me. I am not sure, but I believe that Tucker is more hurt by being left out of the family business and your success more than anything to do with his girlfriend. I think that she just gave him the excuse to attack you. That must be truly difficult to deal with.

I know that you have come out and said that you still love your son. This is honorable. However, if you are to have any hope of saving your television career (if you even care about that now). You must do this. Apologize to your sons girlfriend. Apologize to the black community. Apologize to the Hawaiian community and the Hispanic community. Withdraw yourself from the show and make Leland or Jim the lead hunter with you and your wife directing the action from the office. You might also try dedicating a portion of your show to tolerance and issues that effect the minority communities. They are often used by the media, the government and local city officials to forward someones personal agenda. One last note, this is to your son.

Tiller or Tiger or Tucker or whatever your name is, you should be ashamed of what you did to your family. Everyone should have some degree of privacy in their home and on their phone. You are no different from President Bush who had our calls monitored because he assumed that Americans are out to destroy our own country. When in fact, he is doing a fine job of that from Washington. I know what it is like to have issues with your father. I have more issues with mine than you could ever imagine. Not only that, I know enough crap on my father to put him away for life. The reason that I don't act on this knowledge is because he is my father. I lost all respect for him a long time ago. My father is a con-man who only does what is good for him regardless of how it effects those around him. I don't see that in your father. Maybe you choose another line of work. Maybe your father thinks that your girl is going to destroy you. Truth is, she has already took part of your family away from you and you helped he do it. I still communicate with my dad even though I don't care much for him. You only get one set of parents, you get to choose your friends, but your family is yours no matter what. I suggest that you think long and hard on that thought and act accordingly. Later Dzgrinch.....
