For he's come home to me.
He's back to stay and we'll not part,
Oh, you just wait and see!
Yes, I was sitting by the brook
Beneath an old oak tree;
I'd just begun to read my book,
When something startled me.
I turned around in some surprise
And there he humbly stood,
Begging with his big brown eyes
To forgive him if I would.
Well, it had been so long (too long)
But, I still loved him so,
So I forgave him all his wrong
And he was glad I know.
I flung my arms around him tight
Although his coat was dusty,
And the sun shone on him bright...
My long-lost dog named Rusty!
