Dog Parks that Will Get Your Dog Barking in Las Vegas

Dogs Just Want to Have Fun

If you are looking to take man's best friend into the great outdoors, why not take him/her to one of the beautiful dog parks in the Las Vegas Valley and Henderson areas? There are many options to choose from. Just be mindful that it can get very hot in the summer, so try to go early in the morning (7:00 a.m. or 8:00 a.m. or when the sun sets). Also, if your dog does not react well with other dogs (like mine) it would be best not to take them.

1. Sunset Park Dog Park

My family and I have been going to Sunset Park for many years now. It is a beautiful and well maintained park that is just five minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. It is one of the largest parks in the Las Vegas Valley. People can take the dogs to the park and walk a dirt path that encircles a beautiful manmade lake that is located in the center of the park. Also, there is a fenced off area with a lot of grass where dogs can run around without a leash and interact with other dogs. There is one area for small and medium sized dogs and another area for large dogs. Bring your dog's favorite toy and some water and have a good time. The park provides bags to clean up after your dog. There is shade and running water throughout the park. This park is located on West Sunset Road near the south side of McCarran International Airport.

2. Horse/Dog Fanciers Park

The Horse/Dog Fanciers Park is the largest dog park in the Las Vegas Valley. There are five different areas where dogs can run around and have a good time. Small, medium, and large dogs are allowed. Running water, bathrooms, and bags are onsite. There are four covered patios with benches and plenty of grass for the dogs to enjoy. There is even stadium lighting until about eleven at night. The park is located on East Flamingo. Take the I 15 to the Flamingo exit, exit east, and go all the way down to the end of Flamingo. There will be a stop sign. Take a right at this stop and then take a second right. If you are coming form the U.S. 95 freeway, take it to the Flamingo exit and then go past Sam' Town.

3. Cactus Wren Park

This park has three fenced locations where dogs can roam free. The park is open from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m. It is a well maintained park that has all the amenities people and dogs need. Each of the three sections has half grass and half pebble landscaping. There are benches where people can sit while they watch their dogs have a good time with other dogs. This brand new park is located on Ivanpah Drive in Las Vegas. From the intersection of Eastern and St. Rose Parkway, go north on Eastern. Once you reach the first light, make a right on Ione. Go down this road until you reach Ivanpah. Make a right onto Ivanpah and take it all the way to the end until you see the park.
