The training of my lab-mix adolescent dog, Jasper, was going well, so I decided that we should work on his socialization skills. One Saturday morning, an arts festival was scheduled in our small town, so I walked Jasper to the park, where the event was in full swing. As I slowly walked the dog around the park on his leash, I realized that Jasper was spied by a toddler, and she was gleefully waddling toward us. Once the child was close to us, I gave my dog the sharp command to "Sit!". Immediately, the toddler stopped short and plopped backwards on her bottom. Very slowly, Jasper followed suit. I guess this is what you call cross-training?
