Dog owners usually find more than a reason or two why they want their dogs to be trained. One of the many reasons dog owners prefer their pets to be trained is that trained and obedient dogs get along well with people and other dogs. Another reason is that trained dogs are simply adorable that every community prefers to have non aggressive dogs living within their neighborhoods.

It is best to have a professional trainer to train your dog. But you should also be familiar with a few basic commands that need be mastered by your dog. Every well trained dog should be aware these following commands:

· The basic part of dog training is teaching your dog how to sit on command. This is very useful to keep your dog from straying away. Other dog owners also use the sit command before feeding their dogs.

· The stay command asks your dog to stay still in one place. This may prove to be very useful especially if you're trying to keep your dog away from any posing danger.

· Down or lying down command is also a key command that triggers your dog to stay calm during situations.

· To stop your dog from any bad behaviors such as biting and jumping, the no command can be a strong message to the dog.

· Heel is the command you should use if you want your dog walk right beside you. When you sue the heel command, you are actually requesting your dog not to run ahead of you or lag behind you.

Well trained dogs are good companions. They adapt well to family situations and are safe to have around children. Giving dogs proper training reduces the risks of dogs biting or other behavior problems such as attacking guests. You can tell if your dog is well trained if he or she responds to your commands without any display of confusion, anxiety, or displeasure.
