Dog Treats for Fresh Breath

All dog lovers love their dogs and enjoy getting dog kisses every now and then, but sometimes their dog's breath gets in the way. Even if their pet's teeth are clean, the smell is still there. This article contains ten products that will help eliminate "dog breath" in your pet and make dog kisses much more enjoyable while helping your pet maintain good dental health. Most of these products (if not all) can be found at your local pet supply shop or online. These products are not ranked in any particular order and have been tested by my own two dogs (they like a wide variety). Also, each of these treats and toys come in various sizes for your dog's breed and size.

1. Twistix by Nu-Bone. Green and white chewy twisted stick. The green portion of the twist helps freshen breath with peppermint and parsley while the white helps support overall dental health with the help of sodium hexametaphospate (much like a person's toothpaste). This product contains no wheat products.

2. Foster & Smith Dental Mint Biscuits. This crunchy biscuit helps fight plaque while activated charcoal and mint helps to eliminate dog breath. Because of the activated charcoal, this biscuit does on just cover up the breath, but absorbs the smell.

3. Greenies. Every pet owner has heard of this treats. Toothbrush shaped soft dog chews are easy on a dog's mouth because they are no sharp corners. Easily digestible, they are packed with soy protein to help not only freshen breath, but to help round out a balance nutritional diet.

4. Pup-RR-Mint Treats by Booda. Two layers of dog chewing goodness. The white exterior is harder to help remove plague buildup while promoting dog dental health. The inner green layer is softer and helps with fresh breath with the use of dill, parsley and mint.

5. Dental Mint Rawhides. Dogs already love rawhide, but these green treats are also packed with mint to help freshen breath while maintaining natural rawhide taste and texture. The more your dog chews, the more mint is released to freshen all of the nooks and crannies in your dog's mouth.

6. Quado-Bone. Four bones in one treat all edible and digestible. Dogs can wrapped their paws around the bone as well as roll it around for extra fun. While your pet chews, it helps scrape away plague and freshen breath.

7. Denta-Treats White Brites by Dingo. This white flat bone will not splinter, crack or crumble while your pet chews. Its rough texture removes plaque while containing chlorophyll and vitamin E for fresh breath.

8. Smart Biscuit by Greenies. A good puppy choice instead of their original treat, but older dogs love them too. Still shaped in their trademark toothbrush, these biscuits are crunchy and also help remove plaque and freshen breath. Good for puppies and older dogs since their jaw strength is weaker.

9. Hercules Bones. Not all dental health has to be a treat, this dog safe plastic toy is nubbed to help scrape plaque and massage gums which lead to healthy teeth and fresher breath. Each bone has an intense meaty flavor that dogs love.

10. Beefeaters Denties Bones. Made from rice and milk proteins, these bones give a dog a chewing satisfaction while also giving them a source of calcium and helping to remove plague. They are made with flavor specific ingredients such as peas, carrots and chicken. They will not splinter and contain no plastics which may be harmful to your pet.
