In other pet news, World Vets announced yesterday that Team Honduras has challenged Team Nicaragua in this week's Spay-a-Thon. Spay Day 2010 was held Feb. 24. According to Romania Animal Rescue, the World Woof Tour visited them in Sibiu, Romania during the Spay-A-Thon and more than 100 animals were spayed and/or neutered during the February event. The first Humane Society event such as this was held in 1999 for low-income pet owners.

You can fund your own Spay-A-Thon by going to http://howtohelpanimals.webs.com/fundaspayathon.htm.

In related animal news, World Vets is offering two scholarships for a trip to Romania in May.

To apply, send a statement as to why you think you should win along with a resume to trips@worldvets.org before March 31.

"This placement is perfect if you are thinking of becoming a veterinarian or vet nurse or are already on a course," states the website volunteerabroad.com.

While providing an extra pair of hands, volunteers are also privileged to be in a position where they can learn vast amounts from qualified vets, research shows.
