Doggie Weddings

Parents always want what is best for their children. Even when kids grow up, parents are still watching out for their children and only want the very best for them. Especially when it comes to choosing a life partner, parents can be very protective of their children, realizing how important the promise of forever really is. Since dogs have become like children to so many, it is only natural for their "parents" to want the best lifetime mate for them. And when that special mate is found the obvious next step is the wedding. Yes, that's right, a wedding for dogs.

This different approach to weddings gained some publicity and popularity when, in 2005, Pamela Anderson hosted a wedding between two of her dogs, Star, a Golden Retriever, and Luca, a Chihuahua. The unlikely pair wed on a beautiful sandy beach in Malibu, California in a ceremony as beautiful and special as a human wedding.

Since then, canine nuptials have become more common and the wedding industry is cashing in as the canines exchange "bow vows". In "The Wedding Planner", Jennifer Lopez played the part of a very knowledgeable wedding planner, planning beautiful ceremonies to some of the most prestigious clients, catering to the desires of the clients and finding just the right locations and decorations. Wedding planners have taken this a step further by offering these same services as canine wedding planners.

Just like the human kind, these planners arrange everything, from the best flowers (only the non toxic variety), the finest locations (destination weddings are all the rage), photographers for the special day, and even invitations. These canine wedding planners have their hands full. After all, they have to find just the right gown for the beautiful bride with a matching tux for the groom. Then there's the wedding cake, made especially for the bride and groom and their guests. And, of course the plastic bags for the inevitable accidents.

With these remarkable services comes a remarkable price tag. Depending on the type of service and the level of luxury, canine weddings can rival those of humans with price tags getting over $4000. However, many doggie parents think this is a very acceptable price tag. After all, a wedding is something that only happens once, so why not make it as special as possible for the happy couple?
