The Bounty Hunter is in the Dog House Again

"Dog The Bounty Hunter" is a weekly airing, TV show on the A & E Network. It features longtime bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman as a former bad guy who turned his life around and now is in the business of helping the people he tracks and captures do the same. Dog is portrayed as a loving father, husband and all around family man. Mr. Chapman is also seen in almost every episode thanking God for his success. Before going on any hunt, Dog gathers his "family" together, they join hands to form a circle and pray that God will keep them safe and successful in their venture.
The camera also shows another side of the Dog, the side that folks really tune in to see, the rough and tough, off the chain, bounty hunter. As such, Dog is a very cunning master at his game. At the same time, though, he is an unpolished actor. True, he has learned some new tricks but is still often caught on camera having little tyraids of cursing and flipping people off. But this is what people love. After, all he's just keeping it real, right?

Recently an entire episode was devoted to the life of Duane "Dog" Chapman, taking us back to his troubled childhood and bringing us into the present where Dog is seen at his father's grave, crying and telling his "daddy" that he loves him. In my opinion, this emotional episode could not have come at a better time for the dog, as he once again is in the national spotlight for unbecoming behavior.

On November 2nd 2007, A & E suspended airing of the show Dog The Bounty Hunter as a recorded phone conversation between Dog and one of his 12 children surfaced where Dog can be heard using the "N.." word among other unflattering vocabulary. In the conversation Dog appears upset that his son, Tucker, is dating a black female. Dog adamantly denies that this is because of the woman's race but instead says he fears she may over hear him or some of his crew use the "N" word in non racist context and report them to the National Enquirer. Dog is heard saying, 'I'm not gonna let some f___ing ni___er ruin everything i've worked for my entire life' and 'This would ruin my career that I have worked over 30 years to build and I am not taking that risk'. Little did he know that talking to his son in what he thought was a private conversation was the riskiest thing he could do. Now his worst nightmare has come true (do dogs really dream?).

A & E has only suspended Dog's show. They have not said whether it will be canceled or not but you know it won't. It is their top seller. Even Don Imus has been given a second chance. And don't forget Michael Richards with his very racial comments at the Laugh Factory. Michael retired from stand up comedy but will always be loved for his roll as Kramer on the Seinfeld series. But what will happen to Dog? Will he come back a neutered pup? Can A & E teach an old dog new tricks? I'm sure millions of fans will be tuning in to see, bringing with them their consumer dollars. As for me, I will keep an eye out on the web for ongoing related news. You see, I'm not really a big fan of TV anyway. :p

...telling one of his 12 children???? Jesus, when he's out bounty hunting, he must be doing some recreational activities, too. Of course, the blatant racist comments he made are deplorable.

Thanks for background info on who "Dog" is; I was clueless. I hate that word and bigotry, but it seems a bit much to be fired for a private conversation. Can only guess how many people would be out of jobs if that became the rule. It seems it is rather a personal matter between Dog and his son.

I think this may be it for Dog's career- he's finished. Thats the thing about reality tv "stars"- they come a dime a dozen. He can easily be replaced

I think his comment was racist and representative of a lower class mentality. But, bullys usually make it to the top in this country, and since this situation involves a great deal of money, hel'll be back. A&E isn't what it used to be.

He'll probably be back. Maybe at A&E or maybe somewhere else. I am not a fan...but I have seen some episodes. I liked the fact that he helps put the criminals back to where they belong. But, I do not condone his actions even if he thinks he is doing it in private, he should not have used racist remarks. Racism, in private or in public is bad...plain and simple. Even to think about it is bad. Hopefully though, he will be given another chance...and hopefully, he would learn from this experience.

I'm not a big fan of TV either, but I have watched this a few times. It's not one of my favorites. I had heard a little about this, but you filled in all the blanks. Great job on this! I'm guessing he'll be back too. I don't think they'll want to lose the money.
