First, the very act of bringing your beloved canine into the office may be against corporate policy. If you are thinking about bringing Max to the office, you should definitely check company rules and regulations. Wanting to be with your loyal companion is fine and normal, but if it is going to cost you a job, you are best off by leaving he/she at home. Don't forget, losing your job could make it very difficult to feed your furry friend.
Assuming there is no company policy prohibiting you from bringing your pet into the office, you still may want to reconsider. Something to factor is your co-workers. Whereas you love Max and think having him around is great, the fellow workers in your office might not be as fine with it. Dogs love to explore and meet new people. If your dog is in the act of familiarizing himself with the new surroundings, he will probably be inclined to sniff out the new people sharing the space with him. Your co-workers might become very annoyed at being sniffed while they are trying to perform their respective jobs. Additionally, you may not know if anyone in the office has pet allergies. A work place should be comfortable and your dog might make it physically uncomfortable for some people.
Beyond company rules and the consideration of others, you should also think about how having your favorite four-legged friend at the office might affect your own work. There is a distinct possibility that your dog might distract you from completing the very tasks you are being paid to complete. Your dog will require your attention at least occasionally and this will affect your job performance. Remember, it is called "work" because you are expected to do your job. Having your dog in the office could very well get in the way of this.
Loving your dog is absolutely normal, but bringing him to work might not be so wise. It could be against the rules, annoy your co-workers, and keep you from doing your job. Your best bet is to keep him at home and give him lots of attention in your non-work hours.
