Although it may sound somewhat cliché, holding a door for someone, especially if they are less capable than yourself, can be a joy to do and get reactions that are amazing! Elderly people, disabled people, even simply people with their hands full at the supermarket could use this little gift of good every now and again. The point isn't really to hold the door open for them, although it is a nice gesture. No, the point is to respect yourself and others, and offer the kindness of your heart to a complete stranger.
I have heard elderly people say that the younger generations have lost all respect and no longer want to be good to each other, just for the point of being good! A good deed done for someone can renew their otherwise faltering faith in humanity, even for a fleeting second, and that is a wonderful free gift you can give to anyone, at any time! Although not everyone will be as receptive and outwardly gracious for the help you offer, you get the benefit of knowing that somewhere in there, they probably really appreciated it and you actually did assist them.
The other day I was driving home from work, and it was about one hundred degrees outside and humid as all get out. I saw a nice looking woman walking down the street in a flowery dress and nice handbag. I knew for a fact there were not any houses or businesses for a country mile the way she was headed, so I flipped a u-turn and asked if she was OK, and did she need a ride?
OH, the look on her face was priceless as she thanked me and got in the passenger seat. I drove her at least another mile before she told me to let her out on the corner of her street, and thanked me again, very heartily. It turns out, she had just come from a job interview that she had walked to, and didn't even get the position. So besides the escape from what would surely have been an uncomfortable journey to her home, I was able to lift her spirits quite a bit just by a simple gesture of kindness.
Random acts of good can also be easily accomplished, and are very effective. If you know someone who does not own a PC that has been needing a certain item or items for a long time but just cannot find or afford such, search the Internet for them a bit; maybe you can find them FREE and do some good for them. Or buy a little card for someone at work or in your neighborhood that you do not know very well; this simple gesture could make you a lifelong friend! Doing a good deed for someone, while it does benefit the person receiving the good deed, helps the giver out, as well! Brightening someone's day is so easy that I wonder why it is not done more. Remember, folks, you can kill two birds with one stone when it comes to spreading good nature and doing nice deeds!

Nice article. :)
It all comes down to how would you like to be treated. If you would like someone to help you when you need help opening a door, then do so for others. It takes no time, costs you nothing, but you earns you much in making this world a little bit of a better place.
Random acts of kindness are amazing for all parties involved, for sure! Awesome article.
