The Gradient Effect
This style would be best when used with shimmering translucent shades of nail polishes or micro-glitter nail polishes. Paint each entire nail very lightly with one thin coat of the nail polish of your choice. Before the first coat is completely dry, dip the brush back into the nail polish bottle and apply another coat on the top half of your nails, concentrating most of the polish at the very tips of your nails. Keep on doing this until you achieve your desired look. When applying the next few coats make sure to least each coat completely dry before doing so. For a bolder look, go for bright colored micro-glitter. For a more subtle look, opt of for earthy metallic shimmers.
Geometric Design
The fun part about this particular look is the fact that even monochromatic shades (black, white, and grey) will make your appearance pop. This style looks best with bold shades of crème type nail polishes. Bottles that come with thin, stiff nail polish brushes are ideal for the best look. Take the deeper shade of the two and paint one half of each nail with two coast of polish. Allow to completely dry in between coast. Then apply the lighter shade of the other half of each nail following the same instructions. Add some more spunk by switching sides of the nails that colors go on, or even trying to diagonal halves instead of perpendicular half designs.
All "Blinged" Out
Obtain some chunky glitter pieces or tiny flatback crystals/rhinestones. Paint each nail with a clear nail polish (or be a little more sparkly with a light shimmer nail polish). While the polish is still drying, sprinkle or individually apply each glitter or rhinestone piece on to your nails. Allow the designs to set, and then apply a long lasting clear top coat to seal the look. If you want the look to last longer, every couple of days, apply another coat of clear nail polish.
Color Spectrum
This is the most simple, yet possibly the most noticeable style. Choose two shades of nail polishes (can be glitter, metallic, or crème) and interchange each nail with each color. The fun part about this look is that you can design your nails to suit holiday themes or seasons. Go all out and paint each nail a different color, or a different finish for extra flair.
