Bubbles are an important part of the "couple send off" after the wedding ceremony. You can buy pre-packaged bubbles and dress them up to coordinate with your wedding decor. You will need a box of bubbles, available at such stores like Hobby Lobby. Remember to buy the correct number of boxes that corresponds to the number of guests you expect at the wedding so that each guest will be able to have one. You will also need tulle (available at fabric stores and in whichever color you want) and ribbon that matches one or two of your wedding colors (get enough for all the bubble bottles you buy, probably two or three spools). Satin ribbon is preferrable, or another shade of tulle could also be used.
Cut about an eight inch square of tulle and set a bubble bottle in the center. Next, cut a ten to twelve inch strip of ribbon and set it aside. Then gather the tulle around the bubble bottle and bring it up to the top. It might be easier to hold in place if you put a few drops of hot glue from a glue gun around the bottle below the lid and secure the tulle. Finally, take your ribbon and tie it into a bow around the tulle and bubble bottle. Display your bubble bottles in a pretty basket on your guestbook table for guests to pick up as they arrive at your wedding.
Another nice wedding favor you can do on your own is personalized CDs. Decide as a couple which songs best suit you and have meaning for you, and either purchase them online, or download them from your CD collection onto your computer. You will need whatever music you want, packages of CD-R cd's (available at electronic stores and mass retailer stores), and packages of thin jewel cases to put the CDs into. You will also need printable paper (card stock works best and is more durable). Finally, you need a personalized design that can be printed onto the paper, cut, and fitted into the CD case. Once you have all of your songs picked out, you can burn them onto a CD and then start making copies. Once you have CDs made, you can put them into a case and make your covers. Included with this article are a few examples of the types of designs and layouts you can use for the CD cover. As with the bubbles, display the CDs in a basket or on a table for your guests to pick up as they come in.
Finally, another personalized wedding favor you can make on your own is a magnetic photo keepsake. Most couples will probably choose their engagement photo to use for the magnet. If you have any kind of design or photo software like Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop, you can upload your picture into the program and put a personalized message on the picture, or your names and the wedding date, whichever you choose. Once you have an original made, you can get photo-quality pictures printed with your message at any store that has a photo center. You will also need adhesive magnets that are available at office supply stores. Once your pictures are printed, carefully cut them, peel the adhesive off the side of the magnet and attach your photo. Make sure you get the appropriate sized magnets and photos, so that it all fits exactly, and presto! You have personalized magnet photo keepsakes for your guests to take away with them from your wedding.
These are just a few of the beautiful wedding favors you can create on your own that show your guests you have a creative side, and it also adds a personal touch to your wedding plus the satisfaction in knowing that you had a hand in making your day as beautiful and special as can be.
