Dojo Gelato is located in historic Findlay Market in the Over-the-Rhine area of Cincinnati. Dojo Gelato fits right in to the eclectic mix of ethnic foods and products found at Findlay Market. Located in the Market House, off of the Elm Street Entrance, Dojo Gelato can be enjoyed at a few small benches and tables inside the Market House, or outside in the sunshine just out the Elm street doors.
According to their website, Dojo Gelato is hand crafted in small batches using pure ingredients: milk, pure cane sugar, and cream. Dojo sorbetto is contains fruit, pure cane sugar, and water. There are no artificial ingredients in Dojo products and the dairy products used by Dojo are hormone free. The sorbettos are vegan. Dojo uses locally purchased products when possible.
Dojo Gelato offers 12 different flavors ranging from simple vanilla all the way to the much more unique, Porkopolis (a Cincinnati nickname) which contains bacon. Sorbetto comes in various flavors depending in the fruits of the season.
Dojo Gelato is not inexpensive, but the consumer is paying for quality. A small Dojo Gelato costs almost $4.00 and is indeed a very small serving. A medium quantity of Dojo Gelato runs around $4.70. One thing that is unique about Dojo Gelato is that you can choose multiple flavors for one purchase. For example if you choose the small size, you can get two different flavors served in the same cup. If you choose the medium size you can get up to three different flavors of gelato. Dojo is happy to give you additional spoons for sharing. Dojo also offers free samples of any flavor which they serve on a real stainless steel spoon to save on waste.
Dojo Gelato is open Tuesday-Friday 9:00AM-6:00PM, Saturday 8:00AM-6:00PM and Sunday 10:00AM-4:00PM. Dojo Gelato is closed on Mondays. Dojo Gelato does cater and they do take special orders and orders for gelato cakes as well.
